We only stayed one night, but what a night was it. The studio is extremely spacious, well equipped from kitchen utensils to laundry machine, AC and WiFi. The BBQ was occupied but a family of birds, so we had a morning serenade. We only met Alyson, true host, open , helpful and friendly. I would recommend this close to nature and at the same time luxurious experience to any Hobbitton visitor. It's a cherry on top of the area sights cake.

We loved our stay here! The property sits on gorgeous rolling green hills and had us feeling like we were already in Hobbiton! Itβs a short drive to the movie set and downtown area which had plenty of food options. We would be delighted to stay again on our next trip

We stayed here for two nights recently and oh wow!
Glann and Mark are completely flawless in every single detail of the place. We stayed basically for Hobbiton and this was the perfect spot. Completely scenic and beautiful views we watched the sunrise with our coffee, had a BBQ, had a chat with the sheep and Briony the goat. Everything we needed was provided and the housekeeping was spotless. Homemade breakfast and cookies were spot on and we were gutted to have to leave. If you are lucky enough to have the chance to stay here. Do!!

Really fantastic spot, close to town to head out for dinner and for us close to Hobbiton for a tour. Greeted when we arrived with advice on the local area. Meet all the farm animals, enjoyed a wine in the paddocks, sensational home made breakfast every morning. The room is superbly decorated, very comfortable and really enjoyed an evening complimentary port under the stars. Many thanks Glenn & Mark, awesome hosts!

Amazing stay at the lodge! The location is very close to town (5 min) and to Hobbiton (15 min). The studio was clean, comfortable and relaxing. My friend and I stayed for two nights and enjoyed all the goodies and breakfast provided daily. Mark even packed us a to go breakfast for our early departure. Everything was delicious. Mark and Glenn are great hosts and have a beautiful farm with stunning views and farm animals you can feed/pet. Highly recommended and would definitely return again. Definitely book this unique stay!

A wonderful place, tucked away in the fields, to dream away but so close to town for a great meal or coffee. Here you can totally relax in luxury. The studio is immaculate clean and has all you can wish for, such as a delicious large breakfast (the blueberry pancakes are yammy as is the rest), Port, homemade cookies, magazines, games AND even an adult coloring book and colored pencils, bathrobes etc. The bed is super comfy. Hosts Glenn and Mark are so welcoming and give you all the tips and advice you need to explore the surroundings. Our advise: stay at least 3 nights as there is so much to see and do and don't forget to take time to relax at the picnic table in the field to see the sun setting with a glass of wine and loaded and delicious grazing plate Glenn and Mark can provide, chatting the evening away till the sky is dark to show an amazing sparkling starry sky. Cherry on the cake are the cows, pet sheep and goat, food for them is provided.
You feel like living in pretty Hobbiton, it is magical. We came home reborn and stress free. Thank you a lot Glenn and Mark for creating such a peaceful place and sharing it with all of us. We will be back sometime in the future. Henk and Jolanda

There was only one major let down.... and it was that we didn't book longer. Glenn and Mark are fantastic hosts, we were made extremely welcome. The lodge is extremely well kept and clean, and the decor is well done, so much so its given the wife ideas. Loved being able to walk at night to the bench and meeting the friendly goat when we were leaving. Honestly can say 11 out of 10. They also told us to go to the blue springs and so glad we did! Best ever!!! Absolutely loved our night here, me and my partner just needed a nice getaway for ourselves and it was exactly what we got! So clean and very nicely set up! Had such a lovely breakfast together courtesy of Mark and Glenn, highly recommended, and within 5 minutes of being there, we have already decided we are 1000% coming back!! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay here.
The studio apartment is on 10 hectares of beautiful lush farmland, stylishly decorated, very private and only 3 mins drive to Matamata Township.
Glenn is a super host and really has thought of everything!
We drove to the Township and had a great meal at Redoubt, on our way home all we had to do was send a text and Glenn prepared a cheeseboard, it was waiting for us when we got home with a glass of complimentary port!
Included in the room was breakfast, tasty home made jams, granola, fresh coffee, orange juice, pancakes with cream, fresh fruit! Comfy bed and robes too.
The perfect getaway. Highly recommended for a bit of relaxation and rural recreation!

What an amazing stay! The photos don't even do it justice even though they look great. This cute little sanctuary will blow your mind. The hosts created such a magical getaway; it is hard to not enjoy it. Spacious, clean, tidy and very well designed it will make you feel at home straight away. The details are amazing like the posh tea set, Nespresso machine, cookies in a glass jar, the photos on the wall and the little note on the table introducing you to the animals that you can feed (!!). Beware: the sheep are on fat camp though. And the breakfast?! Heaven!! So much to choose from. Definitely try the homemade pancakes... yummm!
