We have had a school camp at Pirongia Forest Park Lodge with Kate and her First Step Outdoors instructors for the last 15 years with Year 10 students. The whole team has been fabulous, Kate is a wonderful leader and the activities ( rock climbing, caving, kayaking, raft building etc) are challenging but done with safety as a priority. Highly recommend this venue for a school camp!!

Oddly there are hardly any toilets. Given the number of people it sleeps, they're veey much lacking! Well stocked kitchen facilities. Very odd layout and the wooden floors make for a very nosiy stay.

We used Pirongia Forest Park Lodge for a family weekend, with ages ranging from 7 - 76 years. We self catered and self cleaned but both these services are offered if you so choose. The facilities were excellent with the kitchen, particularly the ovens, being rated top class. The setting was quiet several of us enjoyed the bush walks. There are a variety of activities, both free and those for which you hire instructors, so plenty to occupy all ages and fitness levels.

We stayed at Pirongia Forest Lodge as a high-school hockey team. The facilities were clean and well set up. The kitchen made cooking for our large group a breeze. The beds were comfortable. Kate, the warden is lovely and very helpful. We enjoyed the facilities and our morning forest walks behind the cabins. The view is spectacular from almost every aspect. Highly recommend taking a large group to stay there. The only draw back was having no Internet connection so we couldn't access our game recordings. But the cell coverage was very good. And they have a great big screen set up for watching films etc.

Kate Parr, the camp manager, was fantastic to deal with in terms of organising the camp programme and arrangements before and during camp. She was prompt in her email responses, happy to answer all my questions (nothing seemed like a stupid question!) and did all she could to make my school's camp at Pirongia Lodge as memorable and fun as possible. Kate's instructors at her company, First Step Outdoors, were also great to work with. I found them most professional to deal with and friendly. They worked really well with my Y10 class and were most encouraging and helpful. The instructors ensured my students were kept safe at all times whilst still giving them an adventurous and challenging outdoor experience. Kate organised catering for my group. Her cook, Rachel, was also very approachable and helpful. The meals provided were delicious and nutritious. Pirongia Lodge is in a beautiful setting. The Lodge offers great facilities both in terms of accommodation and activities for students to to do. It seemed well maintained and was very clean. The mattresses were surprisingly comfortable!

Again, another excellent stay at Pirongia Forest Park Lodge! We're super blessed to be able to run the Pirongia Trail Run from the Lodge and use the stunning grounds as our start/finish line and race HQ. Kate and the team have a real gem up there - what an awesome facility for the Waipa region. Looking forward to next year! Tu meke.

The lodge and facilities comfortably accommodated our school rowing crews. The 2 dorms and separate rooms suites us perfectly. The kitchen was fantastic for catering, dinning room spacious and everyone enjoyed the outside space and nature. Being able to use a washing machine and having ample line for drying made life very easy. Kate was fabulous and assisted us greatly - I can’t recommend this enough to groups. Thank you for giving us all a wonderful experience.
