On the plate at Velvet Burger, the idea is classic fish-and-chips and well executed. Fish is cooked to a clean crunch and chips stay tidy. Vegetarian picks read as complete plates. Buns hold well and patties land juicy.

“Fantastic support staff like Uthra and Hanna. The former helped my wife with getting desired undergarments and the latter helped with right choice of female perfume. Great experience with the staff. Keep up the good work.”
“Amazing food and great chef’s!!!! Very yummy tandoori, Chole bature and goat curry!!”
“This is the best place to go on Te Atatu Peninsula! We've compared it to the place next door and Peninsula Roast was definitley by far the best. We've tried the lamb and pork so far and both were so tender and delicious. We would aways come back to this place whenever we crave a roast meal.”
“Absolutely 1000% the best fish n chips in auckland !! Real whole potatoe fritters next to zero grease on the paper REAL BACON on burgers and toasties flavorful won tons fresh fish ... my favorite burger the bacon and egg burger with extra bacon is hands down the best burger in auckland . I'm a big guy and have eaten out everyday for years as I work on the road and this place is in my eyes #1 for fish n chips !!!”
“Basic math skills definitely need to be reevaluated due to disappointing service being short changed. One of my horrific experiences I asked for a $20 item plus a $1 can of drink and a lighter. I handed over $40 in cash (x2 $20 notes) and in change I was given back $10 note??? How does a $1 can of drink and 1 lighter cost $10? Very poor math skills. Especially with their ethnic background. Very dissatisfied.”
“My Favorite NZ Spot: Where Every Weekend Was Magic (2000-2002) "This isn't just a place—it's a core memory! From 2000 to 2002, this was the exclusive weekend spot for my friends and me. I practically lived there and knew the whole staff; they were always so friendly and genuinely attentive. The atmosphere was super fun, and honestly, I still miss those nights! It holds so many great memories. I've already earmarked a return trip whenever I'm back in New Zealand. Can't wait to visit again!"”

“My family and I attended the Diwali dinner and were thoroughly impressed by the outstanding customer service and the exquisite food, which was truly worth every cent. I particularly appreciated the thoughtful gesture from the server, who gifted my child a small doll. Thank you for making our experience so memorable.”
“Quick service, hot food, and everything exactly as ordered. Great value for the price — simple, tasty, and satisfying”
“I had my 90th birthday at the Wade, and it couldn't have been better. The staff were so kind and attentive, especially our host Tye who was excellent. He really made the experience special. The surprise birthday desert was such a treat, very unexpected and most appreciated. My family and I would highly recommend having any event at the Wade.”
“Perfecto. Staff were awesome. Some noise inside by inconsiderate guests arriving late at night but no noise from outside at all. Location perfect, we flew at 6am. Have stayed probably 4 or 5 x now and have already rebooked for my next trip.”
“Everything from check in to check out was on point. Great friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. Helped us with our parking solution promptly and without any hassles. Great food and drinks from the bar, and the staff there were amazing as well. The cleaners kept the room immaculate during our stay. Would definitely stay there again without hesitation.”
“I just got back from a stay at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, and wow, what a great experience! My room on the 26th level offered amazing views of the city the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. When I checked in, In my room I was welcomed with a complimentary glass bottle and some delicious chocolates, which was such a nice surprise! The room itself was super spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed? Absolutely comfy! I had some of the best sleep I've had in a while, thanks to the cozy bedding. Let’s talk breakfast! The buffet was fantastic. There was so much to choose from, but I have to give a shoutout to the chef for frying my eggs just right and whipping up an omelette that was simply delicious. It really set the tone for a great day. The staff here were friendly and helpful, always there when I needed something. Plus, the hotel is in a prime location, making it easy to explore the area. Overall, my stay at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor was fantastic. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfy and enjoyable place to stay in the city.”
“Despite our last minute booking at 9pm, it was nice to get the instructions for parking and simple directions to use the shower facilities. We got off the ferry with our motor home at 1am in the morning. And the parking was easy. Lots of spaces for motorhomes in the powered site. Nice clean shower. Everything was neat and well managed. Love it. The lady at the reception I met in the morning was friendly, helpful and nice. Thank you for all the help”
“I just want to give the Deli staff a shout out - they are AWESOME! I regularly pop in to grab something for lunch and they are always so friendly, and each one of them is a pleasure!”
“Had an issue with some meat I purchased, i called up the next day and was refunded no questions asked. I felt respected as a customer and for that reason I will keep buying my meat here. Highly recommended. Great range of fresh and frozen meat at affordable prices and great customer service. 5 stars.”

“I had a really pleasant stay here. The check-in and check-out process was super easy and efficient — staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a short stay. Parking can be a bit tricky, so it’s worth planning ahead. If you don’t want to spend too much on parking, be prepared to park about a 10-minute walk away. Centre Place offers $10 parking if you register in advance, which is a great option. Overall, a great value hotel in a convenient location — I’d definitely stay again!”
“Great spot to enjoy when in the Tauranga suburb of Greerton. Both indoor and under cover outdoor seating. Both full menu and takeout facility. Out door great in the warmer summer days. Very friendly staff with great owner / chef .”
“Honestly everything tasted great, however me and others were very surprised to see how small the bowl of chips and gravy were for $16. There were literally 20 chips in the bowl which is almost $1 per chip which i think is very unreasonable. Apart from that everything was 11 out of 10.”
“Stayed in Napier great places to park offering huge showers, very clean park very friendly staff.well equiped kitchen. We only stayed overnight but would recommend staying there. Traveling in camper.”
“It is absolutely amazing experience for staying in here. Sarah and Amar are so lovely and helpful!!! Sure I will be back again.”
“The best coffee in my 2 weeks coffee experience in Dunedin! The barista girl was very friendly and she knows what she is doing. My coffee was perfectly strong, smooth and delicious. Lemon muffin was yum too!”
“Had a 30 min bus "layover" at Smales Farm and luckily enough this shop was still open to give me another takeaway option to Shake Out (which is great too mind you). Anyways, as expected an hour before closure they don't have any ready-made sushi to grab and go, but they did have some made-to-order poke, donburi, and noodle boxes. The teriyaki chicken was perfectly pleasant and hot, and they don't skimp on the details like even giving you what I find as the fanciest disposable chopsticks I've ever used haha (smoothly round, shiny, darker wood). Their prices are somewhat higher than I'd have liked, but I know where I'm at.”
“Lovely cocktails all looked so beautiful. Friendly service. Food was good. Some hit and miss. My friends enjoyed the fish n chips, ribs and steak. Chicken burger I didn’t like wasn’t a patty was tough and very small pieces of chicken.”
