We had a leak in our room and couldn't go back in while being fix, unfortunately my wife woke up feeling ill also , we weren't offered a new room until the job was done , by then I needed to get my wife to the room and rest. A free coffee could have been nice Emma front of house was amazing and she adds huge value to this hotel. And she was very helpful.

First time staying here while attending the movie premiere for the film 1978. Good reception service, very friendly and had heaps of knowledge of the area. Rooms were clean, and heaps of airflow coming through. Location is nice and quiet. East access to Lambton Quay and all attractions. Highly recommend to anyone who's visiting Wellington as your number one accommodation

Disappointing customer service, I found the desk staff unhelpful. Rooms were clean but basic. You don’t need to book the room and breakfast package as the buffet is no cheaper booking in advance or as part of the package. The buffet was ok - standard hotel buffet. There are better local options.

We stayed here for one night and were warmly welcomed late in the evening by the concierge, who helped us with parking the car and bringing our luggage to our room. She immediately suggested how to make the most of our few hours in the city the following morning, what to visit, and how to get around while avoiding Wellington’s morning traffic – wow, thank you again! The room was simple, with all the essentials. Knowing it was our honeymoon, they surprised us with two chocolate treats in the room, complete with a handwritten note –such a lovely gesture! The continental breakfast was good. If you’re a Lord of the Rings fan, don’t miss this hotel – it has a few (not-so-hidden) surprises!

I just got back from a stay at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, and wow, what a great experience! My room on the 26th level offered amazing views of the city the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. When I checked in, In my room I was welcomed with a complimentary glass bottle and some delicious chocolates, which was such a nice surprise! The room itself was super spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed? Absolutely comfy! I had some of the best sleep I've had in a while, thanks to the cozy bedding. Let’s talk breakfast! The buffet was fantastic. There was so much to choose from, but I have to give a shoutout to the chef for frying my eggs just right and whipping up an omelette that was simply delicious. It really set the tone for a great day. The staff here were friendly and helpful, always there when I needed something. Plus, the hotel is in a prime location, making it easy to explore the area. Overall, my stay at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor was fantastic. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfy and enjoyable place to stay in the city.

This was confusing - as I have stayed here years ago - but now understand the two towers have very different room standards. I booked 2 nights and we were in the old tower. The rooms are so dated and run down - it was disappointing as I assumed the room would be the same as my last visit so the price reflective for that. I know many places that would have been a lot nicer and quieter for around the same money. Won’t ever stay again - also housekeeping woke us on Saturday morning - the sound barriers in the hallway is terrible! Can hear everything including the room next door alarm going off and the fact they slept through it for ages!!!!

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Just spent the weekend at this hotel, we certainly wont be back. The rooms in the photo gallery on the hotels website are not a true reflection of what you will get. The rooms are seriously tired and overdue a revamp. The bathrooms are terrible, shower has no pressure and roof tiles are disgusting. The menu in the restaurant and room service are very limited and very overpriced. The front desk didn’t seem too bothered when I shared my thought. If considering this hotel I would think twice there are so many other options available.

Very happy with our stay here. We came down for the night to watch the Womens World Cup Football. Straight off the motorway to the hotel. Nice clean room for 2 with undercover parking $200 - Fantastic deal. Room service was awesome for a late night dessert after the game - very yummy and quick delivery! Breakfast buffet was amazing! Thanks for the fast and friendly service.

Rooms are a little shabby, need a refurbishment, carpet lifting, woodwork blistering from moisture, but adequate. We were in family suite 1214. Restaurant service was impeccable. Room service was disappointing. Reception check out was rude. Location is perfect being central city. Good for walking or bus routes up town.

Very good location. Terrace room we stayed is clean and comfortable, just may need a bit update on the bathroom in the future. The service is outstanding. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Will be back there when visiting Wellington again in the future.
