This trip was one of the hightlights of a trip to Napier. The safari takes you on a uphill drive to the peak and gets you up close and personal with the gannets. And our guide, Jan, was friendly and cheerful, who makes the trip even more special. Gives you great views of Cape Kidnappers as well.
A truly wonderful experience for our family and especially for my Dad celebrating his 90th Birthday and the fact that 60 years ago he was a General Farm Hand on Summerlee Station which covered 5000 acres in and around the area of the Cape Kidnappers … Marcus our guide was so very knowledgeable and very entertaining and Sophie back at base was super helpful too … all in all a very ‘proud to be a Kiwi’ moment for us as well as being very proud of our home Village of Te Awanga :-)
We had walked along the beach years ago to see the gannets. It was a new, and most enjoyable experience to go on a minibus to experience the gannet colony. We were there at a perfect time when there were a number of newly hatched chicks and much activity in the air. I suffer from severe neck damage and the driver was extremely considerate of this throughout the trip. An informative and delightful experience to be recommended.

We had Jan for today's Safari and somehow managed to get stunning weather after the recent weather. Jan was highly informative and gave us lots of info as we headed up towards the colony area. With a few stops along the way and plenty of time at the top it was a perfectly timed trip. Definitely a must see!
Brilliant tour, great value. Lovely driver / guide. Unexpected extra info about The Farm and golf course as we travelled through the impossibly hilly private road on the way to the gannet colony. The bird experience itself was mind-blowing... we had no idea how closely we'd be immersed. A truly special day and a great privilege.
We had a tour with Tony this morning from Gannet Safaris overland and he was fantastic! He was super knowledgeable, very funny. A tour is only as great as its tour guide and he was one of the best I've had, lots of super helpful information, funny stories! The gannets were incredible, super close and not scared of the people at all, the farm/golf course was beautiful and the natural bird reserve was super cool and we loved hearing and seeing the conservation work being done. A++ trip I would do it again!
I had been going to do this trip for ages and was so glad to have the opportunity to do so recently. The scenery is amazing, as are the gannets and their antics. Our guide Richard was very knowledgeable and obviously never tires of his subject matter. Very entertaining. Great to be guided by someone with a passion for the history of Hawkes Bay.
