We were very unfortunate because our Alpine Crossing was cancelled due to strong and dangerous winds, but we alternatively did Tama Lakes track! Even the Tama Lakes track was out of this world so I couldnβt imagine, what Alpine Crossing would be!

Amazing hike. Endurance is needed. Better plan it on a good day

We weren't able to drive closer to the mountain (where Mt Doom was filmed), there was a recent fire, but I'm happy we were able to see it from a distance.

If you go on one hike in NZ it should be this one. Beautiful, a little difficult (all the best hikes are), and thrilling. The day I went it was a little foggier than I'd hope but even then it was still a blast

Since living in this beautiful part of New Zealand Iβve become a bit obsessive about taking photos of the mountains in the distance from Kinloch and TaupΕ. It just looks sensational on a clear day.

Wow, one of the most beautiful hikes! The route is incredibly diverse, passing through stunning and varied landscapes. The climb towards the end becomes more physically challenging, but it's totally worth it. Highly recommended to check the weather beforehand, as it's a significant factor.

Must do in New Zealand, itβs not a difficult walk, most of parts are flat and the views are so worth especially on sunny days!! One of my favorite places in New Zealand, please be aware of the shuttle must be booked in advance as it has been sold out soon in peak season .

Very beautiful location nice and cold for a family touring. The ha dial ride was amazing just a bit pricy $45 for adult just to travel on top. The cafeteria on top has beautiful views as well food family spot.

We did the Tongariro Alpine Crossing track and it was one of the best day hikes we did so far! Definitely worth it if you are in the area! A few tips to make your trip better: * book a shuttle in advance because the car park is limited to 4 hours only and the hike takes between 6 to 9 hours depending on how fast you walk, how many breaks you take for pictures, etc * there is no shop/restaurant or anything on the track so make sure you have enough water and snacks with you. I would recommend 1.5 - 2 liters. * good footwear is required! This is a volcanic track so some parts are a bit slippery because of the volcanic terrain. Hiking boots with good ankle support would be best in my opinion * take a wind jacked with you, gloves and a beanie. A part of the track was particularly windy and it is easy to get cold up there if you are not dressed properly. * photo tip: take a time-lapse with the volcanoβ€οΈ The clouds move very fast and they create an amazing view Note: check the weather before! You will not be able to see anything if the weather is bad :(
