“I’ve always known this place was here, but ventured in for the first time recently. A wonderful selection of cheeses and meats, and other French-themed food and non-food. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I’ll be back to try the café, which was packed at lunchtime and looked very inviting.”

Would recommend for: -Corporate entertaining -Date nights -Solo treats -Small gatherings The only thing to elevate this to flawless would be to have a mixologist to tie in the Vietnamese flavour profiles. We wouldn’t have left, and the bill would have happily been tripled.”

“Great food and very fast service. It's smaller than most cafes inside of Palmers so does get full quick during peak times. Great spot for people that love avocado as they are always generous with any dish that has it. Nice spot for an afternoon catchup in the sun.”

“Unbelievable cafe! Super busy though so plan to wait, but totally worth the wait. Staff are amazing at juggling tables and customers, a very well run team. Amazing food! I got the big breakfast and added hollandaise, a Vienna coffee and takeaway too as coffee was so good! Hands down one of the best cafes around. Plus it’s on the beach so you can go for a walk on beach afterwards! Will be back for-sure!”

“What a cool little bar. Locate the sign on the street and walk up the stairs. The entrance has no real sign, there is just a closed door and when opened reveals a funky bar. Cool atmosphere, would be great in winter on a cosy winter night but we enjoyed it on a hot summers night. Just stopped for one drink but wish we could have stayed longer.”

“A relaxing shaded cafe on a hot day; ample range of treats for us gluten free people. Really good coffee; no hint of bitterness. There was even a beautifully executed picture of a swan in my foam. Thanks Shine staff!”

“We dropped in for a quick takeaway and as usual it was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon. As we waited for our takeaways, a lovely staff handed us a glass of water which is an awesome gesture. We have dined in several times and we never had any negative feedback to provide. Lots on the menu to choose as well as your usual pastries and sweet desserts. Our favourite is the seafood casserole! Very rich and if given the chance, I would lick the bowl! Parking can be tricky as there are only a few on the street and several others by the side. Best to book if you do visit on the weekend or just wait as the turnover is pretty quick.”

“I have not tried many types of wors but I have never had any better than what Basie makes. A South African once told me he makes the best wors outside South Africa, and I can believe it. Start with the boerewors ('original flavour') - and go in on a Friday if you want it fresh instead of frozen. I also recommend the currywors, chilliwors, and garlic vors.”

“We came here today for lunch. Due to a very recent accident I’m temporarily wheelchair bound and very nervous accessing new venues. When we arrived today, the owner/manager calmly helped my daughter with the wheelchair and went out of his way to make me feel welcome and safe. Honestly, can’t thank him and the rest of the staff for their kindness. As for the food- delicious! Highly recommended”

“Service is incredibly quick and efficient. You can consistently get in and out within a few minutes even during the peak lunch hour. The staff are very friendly and accommodating of any requests. “I loved our food and experience at Origami in Wellington. We found this Japanese restaurant on TripAdvisor and I am so happy that we went to have dinner there! I highly recommend this place because everything was perfect. The atmosphere is nice, cosy, and modern with cute looking decorations and wall painting. The Japanese staff member was very cute and helpful at recommending dishes and teaching us about Japanese ways of drinking sake. And the food was very delicious! We had Tom Yum and Miso ramens and a dragon roll.”

“Two nights in a row I had dinner here because it was so good. When you enter the restaurant the aroma of the herbs and spices welcome you. Very happy with the delicious food and the excellent service. I ordered more than I needed because the food was really good. They wrapped the left-overs for me so I could take them home. I love the atmosphere and the attention to detail. When you ask for mild food then you will get mild food. The mango lassi is also very tasty. I ate a bit early and they’d put on the Indian songs with dances on the screen, it is like re-visiting India again. A beautiful great and delicious experience :-) I will return for dinner, many more times.”
