“My wife had heard about this place through a patient of hers and had sent me the link as a place we must try. We finally got out there on lunchtime. My Coeliac wife was tempted by the Gluten Free sweet treats in the cabinet and I opted for a burger. We were initially confused as to who was staff in their plain clothes, and there seemed to be quite a few of them, but they were very friendly and polite. The food was exceptional. We really enjoyed the flavours in both the sweet and the burger, which were quite different to most places we visit. The coffee was also really good. We will gladly return to try other dishes on the menu.”

“Lovely experience here, they were busy but still took care with the orders. We got a banana bread slice and a scone, both toasted, both delicious, fresh and perfectly made. Our coffees were also yum and well made (Long black and flat white). We highly recommend this place for a light lunch and a coffee. The perfect quick stop in the middle of The Mount.”

“First ever visit and I was not disappointed. The Sausage Roll was fresh, the pastry was crisp the filling was flavourful and filled the pastry. The Almond Croissant and the Panna Chocolate (even tho I didn't try them until I got back to Whakatane about 4hrs later) was absolutely devine. But what topped it all off was that the staff, as well as being friendly and helpful and just a breath of fresh air, actually brought everything out to the car, I have never had anyone do that for me. I am sure that locals know all this about Best anyways but they definitely deserve praise and I challenge all locals to nominate them for the 2024 Prospa Local Business Heroes because they deserve it. Keep up the amazing mahi that you girls are doing.”

“Well kept paths and gardens and you can hire a golf cart if needed. Cute ponds dotted around and a good variety of healthy looking birds. You can buy small bags of bird feed and we saw lots of adorable chicks. The cafe is great and we enjoyed THE BEST Devonshire tea I’ve ever had in New Zealand. All staff are friendly and helpful. Would visit again.”

Shared a big bucket of fries that were amazing, best I’ve had in New Zealand (okay I’ve only been here a week but I’ve had quite a few in my life and these are up there). Was a bit weird that the chips came out before the pies but this worked out nicely, the aioli and salsa were great. Nice that the pastry goodies were warmed in the oven not a microwave. Coffees were excellent. Service was good. Toilets were clean. All easily accessible.”

“Always great service and great food at reasonable prices. Called in this morning to pick up a Pastrami Beef Bagel, for my 96yr old uncle's lunch since he loves them so! I was dismayed to see none in the cabinet and asked whatever could I do so as not to disappoint him? Apparently they have been very busy and hadn't had time to make any but at the look on my face quickly offered to have two ready for pick up in 15mins. Very much appreciated and end result very happy uncle!”
