“I've been coming here for a couple of years now. I must say that 3116 produce the best cheese scones ever! I've travelled throughout NZ and tried various cheese scones but these are simply delicious. Home made everyday by the lovely owner herself. A must try, but leave some for me!”

“My wife had heard about this place through a patient of hers and had sent me the link as a place we must try. We finally got out there on lunchtime. My Coeliac wife was tempted by the Gluten Free sweet treats in the cabinet and I opted for a burger. We were initially confused as to who was staff in their plain clothes, and there seemed to be quite a few of them, but they were very friendly and polite. The food was exceptional. We really enjoyed the flavours in both the sweet and the burger, which were quite different to most places we visit. The coffee was also really good. We will gladly return to try other dishes on the menu.”

The Almond Croissant and the Panna Chocolate (even tho I didn't try them until I got back to Whakatane about 4hrs later) was absolutely devine. But what topped it all off was that the staff, as well as being friendly and helpful and just a breath of fresh air, actually brought everything out to the car, I have never had anyone do that for me. I am sure that locals know all this about Best anyways but they definitely deserve praise and I challenge all locals to nominate them for the 2024 Prospa Local Business Heroes because they deserve it. Shared a big bucket of fries that were amazing, best I’ve had in New Zealand (okay I’ve only been here a week but I’ve had quite a few in my life and these are up there). Apparently they have been very busy and hadn't had time to make any but at the look on my face quickly offered to have two ready for pick up in 15mins.
