The Seafood Collective Papamoa favours a classic fish‑and‑chips mix with clear flavours. A sensible spend for the spread. Packaging keeps things in good shape to go. Fries and sides round things out neatly.
“First ever visit and I was not disappointed. The Sausage Roll was fresh, the pastry was crisp the filling was flavourful and filled the pastry. The Almond Croissant and the Panna Chocolate (even tho I didn't try them until I got back to Whakatane about 4hrs later) was absolutely devine. But what topped it all off was that the staff, as well as being friendly and helpful and just a breath of fresh air, actually brought everything out to the car, I have never had anyone do that for me. I am sure that locals know all this about Best anyways but they definitely deserve praise and I challenge all locals to nominate them for the 2024 Prospa Local Business Heroes because they deserve it. Keep up the amazing mahi that you girls are doing.”
“Highly recommend the island. The food is always on point the staff and customer service is actually 6 star worthy. Had the platter yesterday. Sensational, pork ribs, sausage, pork belly and lamb loin chops with amazing sides…. SENSATIONAL!”

“Great experience, I went in seeking gifts for family members and a staff member personally walked me around the store and gave me recommendations for each family member. Highly recommend!!!”
“It was a great experience and great people”
“Really good meals. The rib special was huge, with such tender meat that it fell onto the fork. The pear, walnut and blue cheese salad was very special. The desserts were enjoyed by all.”
“It was a bit above my regular budge, but well paid for a nice, very clean and comfortable studio apartment. We had great view and all the conveniences we needed around us. I'll definitely consider to come back! Staff was very friendly too.”
“Always great service and great food at reasonable prices. Called in this morning to pick up a Pastrami Beef Bagel, for my 96yr old uncle's lunch since he loves them so! I was dismayed to see none in the cabinet and asked whatever could I do so as not to disappoint him? Apparently they have been very busy and hadn't had time to make any but at the look on my face quickly offered to have two ready for pick up in 15mins. Very much appreciated and end result very happy uncle!”
“We finally stopped here after so many times passing . We came once and it was closed…their off day. We enjoyed the pancakes. Delicious and filling. Lovely staff. Friendly and welcoming. Love the nature. Will visit again.”
“Awesome friendly service. Easy access to BP.”
“Went there for breakfast labour Weekend. Beautiful food, amazing hot chocolate (my partner and I know a great hot chocolate hahahaha) And the owner was great to us. We'll be back anytime we're there.”
“Accommodated our late lunch order for eight today and the price exceptionally cheap. Awesome bar staff and great games for our kids chess and table tennis.”
“Went to watch the All Blacks versus Japan game on the 26th of October and was pleasantly surprised. The food whilst being modest looking was actually really nice. The wings were cooked well and zesty from the lemon pepper rub. The fried chicken burger was fresh, the clover sauce delicious and the chicken cooked well and juicy. My partner had the pork belly burger and said it was delicious too. I was surprised at the price of longwhites, more than you'd pay in Auckland at $10.50 per bottle. The bar lady was attentive and nice. The bar was a little run down and needs some TLC but otherwise it was all good.”
“Good, cheap beer, chill atmosphere, definitely going back for a cold one. Perfect for university students as it was less than 5 minutes from the campus.”
“Just great. Delicious, fast service, excellent food and drinks quality.”

“Great all round Cafe. Coffee is really nice (I'm not a coffee officianardo myself but I always enjoy them) they have some great sweet treats for those with a sweet tooth like myself. Service is always great with staff being warm-hearted and welcoming.”
“Superb steak and cheese pie. Massive and delicious sausage roll perfectly complemented by the coleslaw it came with. Shared a big bucket of fries that were amazing, best I’ve had in New Zealand (okay I’ve only been here a week but I’ve had quite a few in my life and these are up there). Was a bit weird that the chips came out before the pies but this worked out nicely, the aioli and salsa were great. Nice that the pastry goodies were warmed in the oven not a microwave. Coffees were excellent. Service was good. Toilets were clean. All easily accessible.”
“Food was amazing, servers were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was awesome, a really comfortable outside area. Highly recommend for group bookings, food was just falling off the bone 10/10 everything was superb!”
“After a hard day's work, it is nice to settle into the corner with sports on in the background with a nice drink. The food was a good quantity not leaving us too full as restaurants tend to do these days. It is a great place to hang out without having any pressure and just be able to relax.”
“One of the best experiences we have had in NZ. Very sweet and welcoming staff. We wanted to watch the World Series and they played it on any TV we wanted, including offering to set us up on the outside patio with sound. They felt like family - so sweet and lovely.”
