   I hadn’t been to The Island in a long time, so I recently decided to try their grill again and ordered the platter what I use to get. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The portion sizes have noticeably reduced, and the quality of the meat feels like it’s shifted to cheaper alternatives. It comes across as a move toward prioritising profit over quality. I remember when their platters used to include a rich beef brisket stew, well-marinated tender chicken, and even macaroni cheese. Those elements made the meal feel generous and worth the price. The current platter doesn’t compare at all. For the price being charged, the value just isn’t there anymore. I wouldn’t pay this price again, and sadly, I won’t be returning.

   Sooo disappointed in our experience last night at The Island. We have had the platter before as the meat was so juicy and succulent and well worth the money. The food has gone to absolute rubbish!! We got a $90 platter last night, the 4 ribs we got were small, 1 lamb chop (for the 2 of us) was small and dry, the pork belly bites were all fat, the sausages looked like they were cooked 8 hours earlier and were shrivelled up as well. 1 tiny bottle of BBQ sauce to try and moisten up the dry meat. 2 tiny buns smaller than sliders. Mack cheese was revolting and had a plastic taste. The only thing they got right was the fries! You are encouraged to use QR code and order online, but when you get to the end they want to charge 2.5% to use your card for their zero service!! We were a group of 11 and all the food was terrible. The 250gram sirloin steak was definitely less than 200grams. And then the Caesar salad came out after going to ask for it, then it arrived after we had all finished our food. If you want a drink you have to line up at the bar, and wait forthe 2 slow bartenders to serve you. They had plenty of staff hanging around but were only interested in clearing tables, not checking all the food had arrived. We will definitely not be bringing our out of town visitors here ever again!!

   + Beautiful food. Lots of seating areas to choose from. Reasonable pricing. Pleasant music. - Water glasses were either dirty or stained, we couldn’t tell which. The ordering app was a little dodgy so be careful. Limoncello cocktail extremely sour (like duh yes but this was crazy sour). Sauce bottles all needed a good clean.

   Beefy T burger was really good and also the lemonade. Chicken burger was also really good. Food was hot and fresh. Wait time wasn’t too long but it really does depend on the amount of people there

   Highly recommend the island. The food is always on point the staff and customer service is actually 6 star worthy. Had the platter yesterday. Sensational, pork ribs, sausage, pork belly and lamb loin chops with amazing sides…. SENSATIONAL!

   Food is so good! We had Proper wood fired pizzas with prosciutto and kids had Mac and cheese but kids said it was OK but needed more cheesy flavour and left most of it. Other people in our group had the ribs and pizzas are decent size and filling. Good selection of beers largers spirits. Atmosphere is fun and very popular on weekends with families so best to book. Friendly helpful staff and laid back beach diner vibes.

   As a parent with an 18 month old, this place was ideal. Family friendly, fresh local craft beer on tap (jug of beer is the way to go). Service was great. Adult meals were delicious, kid meal disappeared down the hatch. Family had a wonderful time. Will definitely be returning. Edit: back here yet again. Can't be beat. Edit 2: Now we have a 4yo and 10mo. Our new addition enjoyed his time here too. This place is becoming a family legacy.

   We visited Tauranga last weekend from Hamilton. We were looking for a place with a playground for our kids to play. Unfortunately COVID closed all playgrounds. Anyways we were lucky to find this nice restaurant next to the shopping mall. Kids ordered burgers and they loved it. Mine was a salad, great combination of flavor and leaves. Staff was efficient and fast. The new way to order online was great and easy to use. Recommended!

   Good place for a bite and beverage my mate and I definatly were surprised how much we enjoyed the food. Tasty beefy-t burgers and the assorted chicken nibbles and bites were good especially with the gravy and other dipping sauces hit the spot. Burgers did seem like they had been sitting while the other foods were prepared just needed to be in a warmer or something perhaps but other than that good food, cool environment for evening meal and social drinks bring back summer.
