“Great Japanese-style food with authentic flavors! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and attentive. A fantastic dining experience overall!”
“Such an unexpected gem! Very impressed from our first visit. The beef sukiyaki nabe was amazing and flavourful - haven't eaten a proper sukiyaki in a long time! The kaarage chicken was also fantastic, with two amazing sauces. Overall an amazing Japanese kitchen with great menu variety. Will be coming back for sure.”
“An experience that’s more than just food. After years, I have finally tried their food! I went on a lunch time and there was only two other people. Good timing because I was already really hungry. He’s a one man show so make sure to allow time when visiting him. He makes sure every dish is fresh so it will really take time, but he dishes them out one by one, so you get small bites in between before the main meal. He is such a lovely man and he took his time to talk to us and welcomed us. His dishes are definitely authentic! Full of flavours despite of it being light- it won’t make you get sick of it. The broth of the ramen was divine! The takoyaki was crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. It was flavourful on its own, no need a lot of sauce! The yakitori was super yummy. He gave us the takoyaki for free which we highly appreciated. The interior and decorations is obviously antique and don’t expect it to be as of modern restaurant style, it’s feels more intimate like you’re at your grandparents house and they’ll cook you a hearty meal. That’s the vibe the place gave. It is such a gem of Pukekohe. If you plan to go here for dinner, make sure you have a reservation. It gets full quite quickly which made it impossible for us before hence why we tried on a weekday at lunch time. You won’t regret coming here! This is what Japanese cuisine is!”
“I had a pleasant experience at this restaurant today. The beef and sushi was excellent, very flavourful and pleasant to the mouth. The service by Sophia and Lucas was excellent and commendable as they were extremely friendly. If you’re in the area i would highly recommend.”
“Amazing food and service. Sakaba have authentic Japanese food in one hand and in another very creative dishes, like the wing gyozas and the monaka sushi. Sakaba is a hiding treasure in North Shore that deserve to be known by everyone who loves Japanese food.”

“Absolutely love this place! Hands down the most authentic Japanese feed you’ll find in Wellington. I’m down in Welly every couple of months and Miyabi’s always a must-do for me, never disappoints. The food’s top-notch, and the service is just as good. Olivia’s been awesome every time — absolute legend. Cheers team, keep it up!”
“My first visit for Teppanyaki. We tried the all you can eat option. Though this menu is more simple foods in an all you can eat style, it didn't disappoint. The entree board with sushi and chicken was particularly enjoyable given the fresh and crisp contrasts. They have a Japanese version of an espresso martini with Baileys which was very good.”
“Chopsticks Restaurant is amazing, especially their lou sang and peng cai! The lou sang is super fresh, packed with flavour, and perfect for sharing—it’s seriously one of the best I’ve had. The peng cai is just as great, full of premium ingredients and so rich in taste. The food is top-notch, the vibe is chilled, and the service is on point. Highly recommend!”

“A fabstastic Japanese restaurant with great food and excellent service! We visited both for dinner and breakfast (since it’s part of a motel) and enjoyed both experiences. The sushi train delivering food to the table was a huge hit, especially for our 8-year-old, who absolutely loved it! The quality-to-price ratio is excellent – you can choose between an all-you-can-eat option or order à la carte from the menu, which gives great flexibility depending on how hungry you are. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Definitely one of the best Japanese dining experiences we’ve had in a while. Highly recommend for both families and sushi lovers!”

“I’ve been coming here since high school. I’m 28 years old now and still visit every chance I get. I love the staff, they’re so extremely kind. The ramen always comes piping hot, with generous veggies and delicious chashu. The counters are always spotlessly clean. You are a well cared and valued customer when you visit Kiraku. Thank you for your kindness and delicious ramen. This place as very dear to me!”

“I recently dined at Miyuki restaurant, and the experience was delightful. The food was delicious, with the sushi and tuna standing out for their freshness. The egg chicken katsu was flavorful, and the broth was perfect for a chilly day. Although the teriyaki eel was a bit too sweet for my taste, it was still enjoyable. Overall, the prices were affordable, making it a great value for the quality of food served.”
“My daughter and I went for dinner tonight and we’ll definitely being going back. Each meal was well presented and delicious! Tastier than other Japanese restaurants I’ve been to. There is so much more on the menu I want to try. Was lovely just the two of us, but can imagine even better with a larger group and sharing more meals. Our meals came out with some time between them so I did get dinner envy of others I saw. But when ours arrived it was totally worth the wait. You def need to try this one. My latest east Auckland fav.”

Thank you Chef Nick for the delicious dinner, Fiorella for the wonderful service and Chef TJ as well. Appreciate the heater around us to keep us warm during the meal!”
“The best Japanese/ Latin American food I’ve ever had. Everything was perfect from the service to drinks and food. Chefs Eiko and Komo cook to perfection. I loved that they came to the table to explain the dish. I don’t eat coriander, they also asked if I was allergic, just to make sure the food was ok for me to eat. I can’t recommend this place enough.”
