“On the corner of onehunga mall and church. Alfresco opposite St Peter’s you too can enjoy excellent food from a well practiced champion. Totally worth the wait we found Urban lists review to be accurate and will be back!”
“Never seen fried chicken eggs Benedict on any menu before, so I has to try it. The fried chicken here is very good and the eggs were poached well. The Best Ugly bagel with cream cheese and salmon was also very good. I didn't ask what roast the coffee was but it was rich and creamy. I recommend taking the short drive out from the normal cafe areas of central Auckland for a great value breakfast.”
“When I have visitors I always take them to the Majestic Tea House for their famously delicious Mocha's made with real milk chocolate. Mornings are the best for the cabinet food, nice selection and the slices I've tried were good. Cheerful service.”
“Makara Beach Cafe (Wharekai) is a special place. It’s in one of the wildest parts of New Zealand. The cafe is open Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays (subject to management’s discretion) from 11am till 5pm (again… it can change!!). It’s actually a really hard place to run a cafe because of its location. You either drive through Takarau Gorge (a narrow, winding road through an active fault from Johnsonville), or Makara Road via Karori (more friendly for inexperienced drivers). While only 15-20 minutes from the city, it is considered remote. There is very little infrastructure out there. No town water services exist, there is a public toilet block with 2 loos and a change room. They are connected to a septic system and there is no drinkable public water supply (byo or buy one at the cafe). Everyone working here is a local resident. The current proprietors have dedicated their lives to serving their community. They are the local posties, working 7 days a week…. Ronnie and Mark decided to take up the lease of the cafe post-covid. There is nothing else anywhere nearby. The nearby Makara Beach walkway is the busiest public recreational walking track in the whole Wellington Region! Ronnie, once the catering manager with Cook Strait ferries, brings her epic culinary skills to creating and cooking everything on the menu personally, in a very small kitchen. She batters the fish as ordered, making some of the freshest and most delicious fish and chips you will ever have. Her Lasagne is legendary, Toasties are a very popular mainstay (if you are Coeliac, you can even have a Gluten Free toastie!!!). The Big Beefy Burger is always a winner after doing an epic walk to the gun emplacements. I personally can’t get enough of the Bacon and Egg Butties! Ronnie has an extensive menu, catering for all tastes and levels of hunger, including those of our most precious Tamariki (children). The cafe’s busy-ness is directly linked to weather conditions and time of the year. On a sunny day with little wind, you can guarantee the Makara Beach area will be very busy. It is advisable to take this into consideration when trying to park, use the bathrooms and the cafe. Obviously, you may need to wait for services.. including the toilets!!! Perhaps consider whether you should visit the area on such days if you are likely to be frustrated by waiting in queues. The services here are provided by Wellington Council. It is almost impossible to consistently predict the numbers of visitors to the area and visitors need to plan accordingly. This can result in the cafe being closed with little warning if the weather is terrible. There is very little shelter outside the cafe. During summer’s hot days please ensure you have sufficient water, sun cream, hats and shelters. Also respect the residents and the animals (including the recently released Kiwi) who reside there. Park in allocated spaces along Makara Road or in the carpark behind the toilets. Don’t block driveways or the boat ramp access or park on septic tanks and planted areas. Don’t use people’s homes as a urinal and please dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided. Ronnie, Mark and staff do everything they can to make the best food and drinks, and provide the best experience possible for visitors. Their hearts are in everything they do, stop by for a chat and say hi!”
“Nice selection of Hemp clothes, crystals, salt lamps & knick-knacks.”
“Simple, down to earth, best coffee at a good price. I not only get my coffee in their shops , I get their beans so that I can enjoy their coffee when I’m working from home too”
“Highly rate. Great food selection. Coffee excellent. Friendly people to serve you:-) They’ve even got T-Shirt merch!! Had Frittata with Homemade Chutney, coffee and Afghan biscuit. Excellent.”
“This is an interesting place to others an amazing vibe, it has the choices I am generally interested in and of course it has a hint of southern African quinine, whether you come for a coffee, or a breakfast with boerewors or you lunch with a bunny chow can you really go wrong in a place like this, I think not! It is definitely a great place to eat and you should give it a go!”
“What a fantastic cafe! Friendly, efficient staff, incredible food and great views. Love the decor, highly recommended to all!”
“Great coffee, service and pre made food. The chicken cranberry Panini is excellent”
“Went in for a coffee, outstanding service and amazing coffee will definitely be back again!”
“Fantastic service, food, presentation and coffee. The owners and the team are super friendly. The cappuccino is top tier. The hollandaise on the eggs benny was probably one of the best that I've had. Great cafe in Bishopdale!”
“As an expat whenever I'm back in Christchurch I make an effort to get here for the coffee, best Vanilla latte anywhere I've been in the world and great service, highly reccomended.”
“This place reminds me of some of the great cafes in Melbourne. Very well lit, clean, refreshing warehouse style cafe. Nice selection of small simple takeaway food options and treats. Coffee highly recommended.”
“I go there almost every week with a coffee group. They know my order so well, now i dont even have to ask. The coffee is great (self confessed coffee snob. I will not drink instant) the breakfast, eggs on sourbread toast is what I usually order. It is consistently fabulous every time, thats why I order the same thing. Because I know it is great. The place is clean, tidy. Staff are friendly and inviting. Service is outstanding. I am in a wheelchair and they accommodate my needs..I cannot recommend enough..I tell other people to go there and they trust me because I am so fussy. 5/5 from me..thank you for making Fridays a day to look forward to. I really appreciate it. :)”
“Was totally unprepared for the quality of the food that arrived at our table - Creamy Mushrooms and Lambs Fry and Bacon. It took a little time to prepare because everything was freshly cooked. My lambs fry took me back some 75 years to my grandmother’s kitchen which was not too far from where Kai Kitchen is today. Terrific atmosphere, ever so friendly staff. Do try it - it is a visit you won’t regret.”
“Such warm services! Coffee is best I've had in hamilton hands down. Great beans, they froth the milk perfectly and we'll priced! 10/ 10 recommend to try”
“Got to a job early so decided to stop and grab coffee from daydream espresso and what a great call it was. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Coffee was great but the star of the show was the chunky slice of banana bread. Exactly what you need on a cold morning heated up with slashings of butter. I'll definitely be back. Great little place to answer a few emails from.”
“The most magnificent little espresso bar right in the heart of Cherrywood. This place does the most amazing coffee and home-made food. The owners Perry and Preet Fightful and the Customer Service is exceptional. They put so much love and effort into everything they do. Would very highly recommend!”
“Delicious cheese scone and great iced mocha! Definitely satisfied my cravings and hunger during a long beach day.”
“Finally found our new coffee place since moving to Taradale. If you are after a nice coffee and a snack, this is 100% the place to go. Great staff were very welcoming and attentive, had a cappuccino and Apple and Blueberry Muffin (best blueberry Muffin I've had in Hawkes Bay) to share with my partner in the nearby park. Looking forward to our new weekend ritual.”
“Lovely spot to stop on your drive up the coast. Fresh fruit & veg plus stellar coffee. The owner is wonderful too. Recommend!”
“Fantastic breakfast place with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options ranging from smoothies, bowls to bagels and toasties and even breakfast porridge. You can customise you own toast with whatever you fancy. Granola bowl and Smoothies are delicious. Coffee is good, but bit bitter for my taste. Service very polite and friendly”
“I was shopping around looking for a bakery to do gluten free cakes for a future event and I came across a review for gluten free items at Frimley Bakery. WHAT? No way! I went there like 7 years ago and I could only get a $9 toastie (good but $9 in 2018). Today they have a whole shelf of GF items and there is savoury and sweet. I got a whole spice loaf for $7.50!!!! It is soft and yummmmmm!”
“Just stopped in and got a coffee! Best coffee I have had in Dunedin by far! Lovely warm nice little cafe. Very inviting. Loved it”
“We only stayed one night, were wishing we had booked for longer! Was a neat tidy unit, heater was on when we got there which was nice......we were late with our arrival and they couldn't have been more understanding. Rural location, really quiet, no light coming into room at night and pet friendly!! Cutest receptionist ever, thank you Mr Darcy. Would happily go back and recommend.”
“Favorite cafe in the area. Coffee is always good and cabinet food has never disappointed. Usually only 1 person working so expect to wait when busy, but it's worth it. Also the only place I know that has a half-caf on the menu (1 shot full caf, 1 shot decaf). Thanks for all the coffee and hugs from your giant bear!”
“Great coffee! So good we came back for a second cup later in the day! We'll be back again next time in Auckland!”
“What a great team. From Claire in the office to Mickey in the workshop the whole team was so helpful. Mickey called to discuss my machines fault and gave me options. They then fixed it very promptly and at a reasonable price. They even threw in a free bag of coffee beans. I have already recommended to others.”
“2 happy family groups in place when I came in . All coffees doubles. Character filled. Great coffee and food. Found in Te,Atatu peninsula . Demolition Deli overlooks an interesting streetscape. Friendly big table and staff”
