   Got a matcha for $8.30, it was a weird colour, so watery and had no flavour and was pretty small for being so expensive. Love everything else about this place but the matcha was really not great at all.

   Highly rate. Great food selection. Coffee excellent. Friendly people to serve you:-) They’ve even got T-Shirt merch!! Had Frittata with Homemade Chutney, coffee and Afghan biscuit. Excellent.

   Heads up to my fellow diners! Went in excited to try their vegan salad, but spotted some unexpected white chunks in it. Quick chat with the staff revealed it was feta – a bit of a mix-up since I’m lactose intolerant. Lucky I checked! On the brighter side, my partner raved about the granola, and the avocado miso bagel they kindly offered as a replacement was delicious. The coffee was spot-on and we really liked the place’s vibe. A little heads-up: there’s a surcharge for public holidays. It wasn’t clearly noted, so our bill for a coffee, the salad, and granola came as a surprise at $35.32. Just wanted to share my experience. While there were hiccups, there were definitely some positives too. Hoping for a smoother run next time!

   Wow! Food is so good here although I can only speak for the homemade baked beans on toast with a side of crispy bacon. Plus the New York pastry filled with raspberry cream…AMAZING! Coffee is also very very good (best in island bay in our opinion). We came here a few times during our week stay and it definitely ended up being our favourite. It’s cosy but the transient nature meant we were able to get a seat and enjoy the tasty food and coffee inside. But also would be good to takeaway either on the way to the beach or back from the beach.

   Betsy is my favourite cafe in the whole of Island Bay (and maybe even Wellington city!) and I’ve been a regular since they opened. Always delicious food to be had - including lots of mouth watering cakes and donuts - and the coffee is supreme. Try the maple cold brew, you won’t regret it :-) the staff are amazing and friendly and the place is in general a cosy little upbeat spot in the heart of the suburb. Wait times are never long despite being a super popular location, and you can always find a spot to sit whether that’s indoors our outside. Plus it’s dog friendly - yay! Highly recommend giving Betsy a visit.

   Terrible experience for lunch today. Had to get a refund as my meal was an absolute joke. Tuna melt made with the end pieces of a sourdough, a slice of cheese melted over with 10 flakes of tinned tuna and charging $16 for it. My 7 year old nephew can make better food than this. Your toilet is also in a very bad state with black mould and grime all over the sink and taps. Disgusting.

   So good, we came back the next day before leaving Welly! Coffee is excellent, plenty of vege and vegan alternatives, and the staff friendly and accomodating. It’s only a wee place so can occasionally be a bit busy and packed but they manage it well. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
