“We really enjoyed our visit! Always walked past this place and have wanted to try it for a while! We ordered the special lamb curry and butter chicken with a side of garlic naan, and it was really quite a treat! The food came out quickly, and we were very satisfied with the tenderness of the meat and the fragrance of the dishes. The naan also complemented the dishes well, and while I can’t speak for authenticity, it was a tasty meal, and I’d like to come in to try more from their menu!”

“Stopped in for their lunch special and had the most delicious butter chicken, rice and naan. Staff are lovely, restaurant is clean and tidy. I highly recommend their lunch special as value for money and great taste.”

“It's my favorite indian food place. The food is always nice, quick service, good deal price and friendly hospitality. BYO wine, but they also have the wine and beer selection menu. We had chicken tikka as a starter. Main dishes were butter fish, mango chicken, lamb rogan josh, and cheese naan. It was so delicious.”

The secret is not just that this legendary long standing Indian restaurant does a $30 buffet on Saturday night, the secret is not that staff are super friendly and its a gorgeous environment the real secret is that they change the items in the buffet regularly! Yes no same old thing each time you can go every week and enjoy your tasty favorites plus try something new. Its fresh and delicious. Hubby highly recommends chicken pakora and the dahl. I know my steak man going for vegetarian option that is how good it is. I recommend the chicken malai. Its only Saturday night from 5:30pm, pay when you go in and make sure you book as its popular for a reason! And sshhh - its a secret remember......”

“If you’re after great, authentic and flavourful Indian food, then this is the place. While the ambience and service are nothing to rave about, the food beats it all! Absolutely loved the fish Amritsari, which interestingly and sadly is a rare find in Auckland. The lamb seekh kebab and biryani are fab too. Sure will be back”

“I am only marking 'atmosphere' down because our table of 4 was the only one occupied. We had 4 different meals and all were delicious. This restaurant deserves to be better supported. The decor has recently been revamped and is really nice. The menu is comprehensive and reasonably priced. There is also a BYO option for the budget conscious. “I came in today, 2nd August 2025, and honestly, I just had to leave a review because the experience was that good. Right from the moment I walked in, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. You could tell they actually cared about making sure we were comfortable and happy. Service was fast, smooth, and super polite. It’s rare these days to see people go the extra mile, but the team here really did — and it made a big difference. Now about the food — wow. I’m not even exaggerating when I say everything was so fin’ good*. Packed with flavour, cooked perfectly, and served hot and fresh. Every bite just hit the spot. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do, because the quality was honestly next level. “I've been here on every visit to Auckland, lots of seating. The menu is extensive. I love hot curries so always order indian hot, they were almost spot on but I feel they weakened the spice level. The flavour of the curries are great nice sized portions too.”

“Been looking at this place for some time now. finally went in to try there Lunch curry deal. Wasn't disappointed at all. Ample amount of food for $12.99 Include curry , rice, naan bread and can of drink.I ordered a chicken vindaloo, Ample amount of rice and meat. for the price, i couldn't complain. I asked for super spicy, But wasn't spicy at all. I have a high tolerance for spicy food so not the chefs fault. All in all was a great tasting curry and a great deal. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and very polite. The place in general is very clean and tidy. I certainly will be back again,and hopefully We can get the spice just right Next time. This place is a little hidden gem, and more people need to know about it.”

“Seriously one of the best indian restaurants in auckland! the onion bhaji, samosa chaat and lamb nawabi dishes were a particular hit in our family. The naan is to die for, buttery almost like roti, might not be too everyone’s taste but our kids couldn’t get enough of it. Looks a bit dated walking in but don’t be tricked, would highly recommend!”

“I have been to Yellow Mirchi few times. Friendly team here always welcomed us with a smile and delicious food. My kids love Butter Chicken with Cheese Nan. My favorite is Chicken Biriyani with yogurt Raita. Its simply delicious, you will never find this taste anywhere else. Must try. Paneer and Veg curries yum too. Relaxing decor, amazing service, visit and see/experience it yourself.”
