Our party of 4 + baby went to eat dinner there last night. We reached early so we were the only customers besides another group of people. We ordered several items: pain puri, dahi puri, vada pav, chef special pav bhaji, munchow soup, garlic naan, Manchurian, Hakka noodles and Manchurian noodles. We also ordered Kala khatta drinks. For dessert, I ordered sitafal basundi. Pain puri was pretty good. I like the choice of different water, the hajma hajam being the best one. Dahi puri and vada pav were also decent. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was downhill from there. The munchow soup had sooo much ginger it burned out throats. We couldn’t finish it. Pav bhaji had paneer in it which wasn’t mentioned. It was a weird mix of things that did not taste like pav bhaji. They gave the most atrociously tiny hot dog bun which was ridiculous considered they served vada pav with proper buns! It was also swimming in oil. Hakka noodles was flavorless with hardly any vegetables and they forgot the gravy with our Manchurian. Upon asking, they gave us some gravy which was also full of ginger chunks. Same with Hakka noodles. The ginger wasn’t even cooked properly. The Manchurian balls were extremely salty and mostly inedible. The Manchurian noodles were slightly better but they use a LOT of food coloring - not sure why. Garlic naan was nice and fluffy but missing salt. Kala khatta drinks were delicious. Sitafal basundi was decent. I’m surprised they managed to source some sitafal in New Zealand! That was pleasant surprise. Ambience of the restaurant was fairly nice but staff is average. Not really great customer service and they seem to get overwhelmed easily and quickly. Overall, a pretty sub par experience considering that we were excited to try this place.

Our book club had dinner here last night and really enjoyed our meal. Indigo offers a wide range of delicious chaat (snacks) and main course offerings. Apart from us, all of the patrons were Indian, so it was great to eat at an Indian-Indian restaurant, rather than one with Kiwi-Indian food. We tried six different chaats - and all were delicious. Having said that, the dahi bhalla (lentil dumplings in yoghurt) were fridge-cold and would have benefited from being a bit warmer. The curry menu was quite different to what one would see in Kiwi-Indian restaurants. We had baijan bhartha (eggplant curry) / paneer pasanda / Green Mysore dosa / Egg tikhari. They were really tasty and some had a reasonable chilli hit. We tried various drinks, some of which were quite unusual by Kiwi standards. I had a sour lemon masala soda, which had quite a few spices in it. I liked it but the others who had it weren't keen. But we all felt it was great to be able to try things as they are intended to be, rather than being dumbed down and tailored to Kiwi tastes. All in all an interesting and enjoyable meal in pleasant surrounds. I'll be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Indigo is the restaurant where I love to come again and again with my family. The food here has the real taste of India. Everything feels fresh, pure, and full of flavour. We have tried many dishes on the menu, and every single one has been very tasty. If you want a different experience, something beyond the usual frozen sauce mixed with a few vegetables or paneer, then you must come here. The food at Indigo really gives you the true taste of India. The dishes you must try are their pani puri, pav bhaji, and their paan. The pani puri is on another level, the pav bhaji is so delicious and filling, and the paan is the best way to end the meal. The customer service is also very good. All the staff are humble, kind, and welcoming. I noticed some people wrote in other reviews that the staff were rude or not smiling, but I feel this is not fair. When you work in a busy place, you cannot smile at every single person while also managing many orders. From my visits, I can say that the staff are very nice, including the people who work in the kitchen and come outside to serve. I truly recommend Indigo if you want to enjoy the real taste of India with your family.

I recently visited Indigo Restaurant in Avondale, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a modern touch that perfectly complements the authentic Indian flavors they offer. The staff were attentive and friendly, making the whole dining experience feel special. The menu had a great variety of vegetarian options, each dish bursting with rich, aromatic spices. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the portions were generous, making it a great value for the quality. The naan and freshly made rotis were a standout, perfectly complementing the curries. Overall, it’s a must-visit if you’re looking for delicious, authentic Indian cuisine with excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I had a phone call with the restaurant and the representative was incredibly rude and dismissive. It was a frustrating and unpleasant experience. I hope they improve their customer service in the future.

By far the best Indian Chaat place to go to. Had heard reviews that its food is quite good and it turned being more than just good! If I could, I would definitely eat here every week. They also makes fresh sweets and snacks and even the Paan that I finished off with was absolutely fresh! Please maintain the quality and I’ll never stop coming!
