Food and service are not good. When I asked for one more katori to take sambar, they said they couldn’t give it. The service was so bad, they weren’t happy to serve and were very arrogant. There were only 5 or 6 people there for brunch, yet we kept waiting a long time for the dosa. I took my friends there saying it used to be a nice place; a long time ago it was good. Now the food is also terrible. I ended up looking like a fool in front of everyone. No one liked the service or the food.

Food was very nice but staff behaviour is pretty arrogant. I asked for little bit of top up for coffee as my child wanted to try it. Even though I had paid for my child’s plat we had to pay additional for coffee. Very sad

I came in with pretty low expectations and most of them were met. That being said, it’s not really somewhere I’d go out of my way to have again. It’s in the train terminal, so the environment isn’t great, and the service almost felt like the restaurant rarely had customers. I had the Chicken Tikka and it was the star of the meal. Decent spice, and good flavor. The naan was a real let down, barely cooked it felt like and more a flatbread than a naan. I also had the chutney sampler, but it doesn’t come with anything to dip with like a papadam or something. It was a fine meal, but nothing special to write home about.

Saffron is situated within the old Auckland Railway Station near Spark Arena, providing a picturesque ambiance with its charming decor. The restaurant maximizes the historic building's vibe, creating an appealing atmosphere. It’s quite the hidden gem. With a reservation set for 12:30pm due to its anticipated lunch rush, we found a considerable crowd upon arrival, many of whom had yet to be served. A courteous and multitasking employee managed the register, welcoming guests, taking orders, serving patrons, and fulfilling various requests. This dedicated individual also tended the bar and answered calls, showcasing impressive versatility. Although the wait was notably long, considering his numerous responsibilities, the waitstaff's efforts were evident. Another person, likely the owner, occasionally assisted, potentially working in the kitchen. The food's preparation time was extended, and we also experienced delays for items like ice and cocktails. Despite the extensive wait, the delectable food and the hardworking staff's perseverance shone through. We opted for the classic Butter Chicken, Dosa Platter, Beef Madras and Lamb Roganjosh. Everything was absolutely delicious! Worth the wait? Maybe. The cocktail didn’t stand out but this may not have been the bartender’s best work given his circumstances. While not ideal for a quick lunch break, given the time constraints, it's worth revisiting due to the diverse menu. Notably, they offer an affordable vegetarian breakfast buffet under $20. A second chance is warranted, though addressing staffing concerns could greatly enhance the overall experience for guests and staff alike!

Best Indian buffet! We really enjoyed all the spicy vegetarian options. The chef made so many fresh dishes on the spot, including dosas! Love the atmosphere & friendly staff. Definitely coming back.

This place serves very affordable and very delicious food. I come back almost daily. It's very good. Excellent. Let the food do the talking.
