I ordered a T-bone steak rare, and they brought it completely overcooked, putting an egg on top to try and hide it. Since it was NZD 60, I asked them to send another one because I'm not stupid. They apologized and said they sent another one (good!!). However, to my surprise, it came back almost overcooked again. This time I ate it because it was late, 9:30 PM, and I was very hungry. I'm wondering what kind of cook/chef doesn't know the right cooking time for meat? Very disappointed.

Fantastic food and service, scallop and prawn entree is a must, fish of the day was beautiful and the beer battered chips were the best I've ever had. Braised lamb tacos for $2 each were delicious and very generous. Staff are very friendly and attentive. All seafood was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.

We often stay at the nova tel when in Wellington so we do dinner at the caucus restaurant Only a small menu but seasonal and changes offer Tonight was breads and dip, scotch fillet with a side of short rib The scotch was ever so slightly over done for me but still good and the short rib was amazing melt in your mouth We got the sides of pumpkin , carrots and chips And finished it off with the pistachio cake Good food and good service from Noee and Mereana

We were part of a group eating a set menu.. Started to sit at 7 PM. The food was ok and not bad. We got our starter which was beef salad with asian influence.....there was no asian influence, the salad didn't contain lettuce at all ( only rocket leaves) and there was cheese on top of the beef which was not written/specified on the menu. For the mains, only after 30 minutes they came to told us they didn't have Chicken and instead we can have another dish with lamb which was also different than the chicken ( slightly different salad and no cheese )...for mains we waited at least 1 hour.... Afterwards a long waiting time for the desserts as well and there were no kitchen staff in the kitchen (probably went to chill or smoke ). One probably washing dishes only (perhaps) and one guy just had his hands in pockets doing nothing....... We missed our night walk in Wellington because of this... Summary For a set menu and booking beforehand; kitchen was not prepared at all, long waiting time for each of the foods ( starters, mains, desserts), only being told long time after waiting the one main is out of stock. Some of the food wasn't as stated on the menu. Avoid unless eating for free and you have 4 hours+ or waste. Only saving grace is the happy hour for alcohol

1st diner so attentive, friendly, prompt service. Kind to seat this solo diner next to the window. Had Trevally as Fish of the Day: delicious & not mean with the greens like some other eateries hit by high food prices. Pistachio cake & mango sorbet were tasty & proper apple juice! Mizunogotoshi sake was sweeter taste than regular & pleasant to drink. Would have been even better cold.

Nice meal, good service. Tried the special 3 course seafood set menu. The entree was good and the main was very nice although the tempura was a little over cooked and the shellfish was also overcooked. However the fish was beautiful. The desert was tasty but a very interesting presentation as you can see from the photo. Only good value as we are accor members and got it half price.
