We had a group of 8 Christmas get together. The food was wonderful and the service was too. Very comprehensive menu, we were spoilt for choice! Thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will come back. Thank you
First time here after it was recommended to us. This unassuming unpretentious cafe did not disappoint. The welcome and attentive service from the charming lady was perfect and there are plenty of choices from their extensive menu., We had a shared platter for two which was absolutely fine but the following curries were the best we have had anywhere for some time. My husband had the Malaysian style beef Rendang and I had the wild goat curry. Both were beautifully cooked with medium spice which was not hot. We would definitely recommend this place for their food and service. A great find.
Quaint small restaurant with a good atmosphere. Food was great. We really enjoyed our evening here and would definitely recommend this to other people. The restaurant was very busy the night we visited with a large family group, but the staff remained calm, friendly and upheld good service levels which we were impressed by. They also offer takeaway food which is good to know for my next visit to the Kapiti Coast.
We booked well in advance for a special family dinner with children. Our booking was for 5:30pm. Smaller groups that arrived over an hour after us were prioritised meals before us because they complained they didn't want to wait for the 'big table'. Super spicy meals were served to people who ordered mild and even though inedible, were forced to pay in full. Absolutely unacceptable. Severely understaffed with just ONE person taking orders, serving meals, managing takeaways and managing drink service for the entire restaurant (she was apologetic & lovely but incredibly run off her feet). At nearly 8:30pm we're leaving with exhausted children. While the food that was correctly served was absolutely delicious, thisnis sadly not enough. In any establishment your customer service is as important as your food quality and because of this we will not be back. I recommend more front of house staff on traditionally busy nights. Nearly 3 hours in a restaurant with young kids is not good enough. Do better.
I recently visited Banana Leaf Restaurant with a group of 7 work colleagues, and we had an excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and attentive, making sure our large group was comfortably seated and well looked after throughout the meal. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was full of authentic flavor, beautifully presented, and served fresh and hot. Everyone in our group was impressed, and there was something to satisfy all tastes. The service was outstanding too: prompt, friendly, and professional. Overall, we were all so satisfied with our visit. I highly recommend Banana Leaf Restaurant for both small gatherings and larger groups. We’ll definitely be back!
I thought I’d give this restaurant another go as it’s been a few years. I was Absolutely disgusted with the size of this main meal especially with prices that are being charged. It’s not right I personally will never order from here again. Especially when the competition is providing decent sized meals for a reasonable price.
Nearly closing when we walked past, but welcomed us in when we looked through the window. Food was amazing, service with a smile!! Would definitely come back.
Great lunch. Best home made iced tea I've ever tasted and delicious food with generous portions. Wonderful service will be going back.
Very high prices for the quality of service and food. Not sure if we came in on a bad night... But it took 15 minutes for someone to take our order and 40 minutes to get our meals. I was hoping for an authentic experience but the flavours were very mild to diluted. The roti chanai was dripping in oil. (Picture 1: Roti chanai with lamb curry $20; picture 2: Fried kuey teow $22).
