Great little Japanese place tucked away in a back lane. You’d never know it was there unless you are looking for it. Food was good. I had tofu steaks which were nice, however, dressing was way too salty is my only feedback. If balanced with something else maybe better. Service was ok, but I was never asked if I wanted another drink. Entree and main come out together which is strange. If they added ramen to the menu it would be perfect little gem. Overall, worth going.

This place is the real deal. Very authentic, the place is super cozy, the service is really good and the food is amazing. The rice especially is sooo good. Definitely a must visit! Favorite place we’ve eaten at so far through out NZ trip.

Went to Tatsushi for the first time, and it was amazing!! Nearly full on a Wednesday night, we walked in and got the last table. We had tuna, salmon, white fish and beef nigiri sushi, as well as hand sushi with salmon and tuna. As well as mini udon, chicken and tempura. We have over ordered for sure but everything is so good. Service was excellent, food came fresh, well made and quickly. Sushi was so good! the agedashi tofu is a must try, this is the most authentic tofu I’ve had in Wellington.

An awesome Japanese restaurant with authentic food! Seven of us went to this restaurant last night on a busy Friday evening. This place has always been our go-to spot whenever we’re craving authentic Japanese cuisine β€” and it’s been that way for years! I always recommend it to out-of-towners looking for a genuine Japanese dining experience in Wellington. The food quality is consistently excellent and absolutely delicious! It had been a while since my last visit, and I realized we definitely need to come more often. I’ve never been here for lunch, so I can’t comment on that β€” though I know the lunch menu is more limited. But in the evening? Wow! It’s such a fantastic place to dine. Not overpriced either, which is a bonus. We’ll be back soon!

Whenever we crave for a Japanese feed involving sashimi, sushi and all other delights, this is the place to be. We have been dining here for years and the food has been consistently authentic and fresh. The menu often changes regularly and they have a wide variety of dishes. Our regular meals are what you see in the pic and I’ve added the captions as well for easier references. They do get filled up especially towards the weekends so bookings are highly recommended. You can sit by the bar if you wish to see the chef at work however it has limited seats of about 6 chairs.

Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere, this is somewhere you should really go if you would like to try some real Japanese food. Sashimi and sushi were amazing, fresh and delicious. Tempura was awesome as well. Black tiger prawn tempura was crispy outside, and also splashes in your mouth when you bite through the crisp. 100% recommended and best Japanese restaurant in NZ I have ever been.

It was a real treat. We enjoyed the large sashimi plate, the tiger prawn tempura, the soft shell crab, the agedashi tofu and the tuna soup. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend! We were recommended by a local and had a beautiful experience here. Lovely service, great atmosphere, good pricing, and exceptional food. The dishes are on the smaller side so recommend getting a few to share.

The sashimi was nice, however the lunch menu is limited to only a few variety of fish. I would definitely return to try their more extensive dinner menu. The chicken karaage was unimpressive. Nice ambiance with pleasant service. The place is baby friendly, which is a bonus for young families.
