Excellent Korean restaurant in a busy part of Lower Hutt near the Queensgate Centre. The restaurant is well decorated and modern and the service fast efficient and pleasant. The food is excellent and traditional. We had a very enjoyable meal with Korean pancake and Bibimbap.
Meat/seafood to carbs/vege proportions are on point. Kimchi is really good .. wish I could refill (not sure I was able to or not)
Everything at Han River Restaurant was so good! The flavors were spot on, and the grilled pork was amazing. But the kimchi? Next level. I asked for two extra servings because it was just that good. Definitely coming back soon!
Stumbled upon this gem while on a road trip in Welly. We had the bibimbap and pork yukgaejang - blown away by the generous amount of ingredients in the dishes and the rich flavours. Even with the lack of variety in their side dishes, the main dishes compensated for it as they were packed with ingredients. Will revisit if passing by!
The food is good and ambience is not bad though do not have the authentic Korean setting. Very modern. The side dishes given are few compared to those in Korea, Singapore and Malaysia. The side dishes also don’t taste as good. Their only nice side dish is the one with peas and beans in watery salad sauce. Their kimchi only taste of vinegar, so paled in comparison to those you find at other places. Their grill is good. It’s a pity that they don’t provide the dip, garlic and lettuce to wrap the meat. It will definitely taste better if they did that. Service wasn’t as warm as those who received from Korean operators living in Singapore and Malaysia. Their seafood pancake is good and I recommend this dish. Doenjang is not as good as those I tasted. I suppose I am more critical because I have tasted better Korean food in other countries. Will still recommend this place to satisfy craving for Korean food.
We went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We. Had pre-ordered food, and ordered additional to try. The food is great. The staff are very courteous and fast to act on our requests. The place can be a bit too noisy as it fills up with diners, and acoustics can be improved. Overall, a very good dining experience. Will surely come back for another round of decadent, authentic Korean cuisine.
Soooo good! It’s best to check out the menu before you book/go… some menu items require two days advance notice - like the odentang (fish cake stew). Service is friendly and food is delicious. My favourite dishes so far have been the seafood pancake, bibimbap and odentang.
One of the best Korean dishes I had in NZ,good customer service and extremely clean and tidy washrooms. Pricing is a tad high but certainly good stuff. Pre book table definitely (expect delays in service due to the high volume of customers). Definitely would go back again.
Really authentic Korean food. Food is super tasty and all the flavours go well together. Have ordered the pork BBQ, dduk-bokki, squid and the galbi-tang. All worth getting. The food is so good I'm on a mission to try everything on the menu! They get really busy so the wait time is a bit long, but definitely worth it. Owners are extremely friendly and welcoming. Edit: Just got the budae jjigae, best budae jjigae in New Zealand.
We went as a group of 7 people for dinner. We were asked to order our food in advance to help the kitchen prepare the food before we arrived. The service was good, but we did have to ask for drinks menu etc, but it was quite busy. The food was excellent, in particular the chicken wings were fantastic. We got complimentary kimchi, tofu and seaweed with our mains. One of the tastiest meals I've had in Lower Hutt.
