“If I was just rating the Indian food, it would get 6 stars (I haven't had the non-Indian food yet, but there is a good selection). I recently moved here from the UK, and generally speaking curries in New Zealand are not as good as the UK, and my test dish - chicken Dansak is either usually not available or not good, but at Mainsail it was brilliant...best curry I have had since coming to NZ, hands down (and better than many I've had in the UK). My wife who is not a big curry eater, enjoyed her Tikka Massalla as well - they get the heat exactly as you request. There was a good choice of non Indian food as well, which we didn't sample. In terms of atmosphere, the interior of the restaurant where we have eaten both times, needs refreshing. The views are good, and with a bit of attention, it could be a great space. The main bar seemed OK, very much a bar, and the outdoor patio looked like a great place to sit when the weather is good, which it wasn't when we went. This is overall a good place, and will be somewhere we come regularly due to the location and the excellent curry. I doubt I will ever sample their non-Indian, which looks fines, because the Indian so darned good!”

“Decided to have a late lunch at 9bowls after a bloody hot day at work. I've ordered the Korean Fried Chicken set and it was delicious! The staffs was very attentive and caring, making sure I am well sorted. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cozy and breathes good vibes. “My friend and I had a beautiful lunch yesterday! My friend was not feeling very well. The staff were EXCELLENT and accommodated her request for something clean. They were willing to go 'off menu' and offered her a lovely lemon and ginger hot tea as well as a nice fresh chicken breast, veggies and rice. It sounds simple but it was exactly what my friend needed and wanted and she was very happy. I had a vegetarian meal of tofu, cashews, veggies and rice and it was DELICIOUS! Food and drinks arrives quickly. The lady serving us was so kind and genuinely wanted to find something that would be good for my unwell friend. We will DEFINITELY be back, it was a great experience and also a nice environment.”

At Mighty Hotdog Royal Oak, the menu stays simple, bistro‑style with tidy execution. Portions are generous yet well judged. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. Wait times are contained even when busy.

On the plate at Sky Horse Takeaway, the idea is classic fish‑and‑chips and well judged. Outdoors works well when the weather plays along. Easy carry‑out for a simple night in. Fillets arrive fresh and the fry stays clean.

“We have been a frequent customer at Zac’s Pizza, mostly ordering takeouts, but we decided to stop by for a dinner this time, and it did not disappoint! We started with the cocktail shrimp, which came in a generous portion and was absolutely delicious. The salad was fresh and vibrant, complemented by a unique and flavourful special ingredient sauce that really set it apart. For the main course, I had the steak, and it was everything I hoped for—tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, with a rich and savory mushroom sauce. The service was excellent, and despite the restaurant being busy, we only had to wait around 20 minutes for our food. The staff here are always so friendly, with a smile on their faces, making us feel right at home. Plus, there’s plenty of parking out front, which makes everything even more convenient.
