   There is a rare and deeply satisfying experience when a restaurant unexpectedly delivers both exceptional food and outstanding service and that is exactly what you will find at Main Sail. During our visit, we sampled a variety of dishes, and the experience was flawless. We ordered the Meat Platter, Crispy Calamari, Samosa Chaat, Lollipop chicken, Goan Goat Curry, and an order of Naan, and every single dish was perfectly executed. The quality was so high that the only reason to eventually stop eating was simply being full. The excellence of the food is matched only by the remarkable staff. We cannot speak highly enough of the warmth and genuine care shown by both the chefs and the service crew, they were simply the absolute best. Beyond the culinary experience, Main Sail offers a wonderful atmosphere. The ambience is lovely, and the restaurant boasts a great view of the Harbor. I wholeheartedly give Main Sail a 100% recommendation

   If I was just rating the Indian food, it would get 6 stars (I haven't had the non-Indian food yet, but there is a good selection). I recently moved here from the UK, and generally speaking curries in New Zealand are not as good as the UK, and my test dish - chicken Dansak is either usually not available or not good, but at Mainsail it was brilliant...best curry I have had since coming to NZ, hands down (and better than many I've had in the UK). My wife who is not a big curry eater, enjoyed her Tikka Massalla as well - they get the heat exactly as you request. There was a good choice of non Indian food as well, which we didn't sample. In terms of atmosphere, the interior of the restaurant where we have eaten both times, needs refreshing. The views are good, and with a bit of attention, it could be a great space. The main bar seemed OK, very much a bar, and the outdoor patio looked like a great place to sit when the weather is good, which it wasn't when we went. This is overall a good place, and will be somewhere we come regularly due to the location and the excellent curry. I doubt I will ever sample their non-Indian, which looks fines, because the Indian so darned good!

   My daughter& I had been exploring the wetlands and pristine peninsular beaches! Suddenly it was coffee and lunch time, we were at GULF HARBOUR at this stage! The “MAINSAIL” bar & bistro caught our attention with its welcoming look! We were greeted by an attractive waitress who directed us to a nice table in the outdoor area. We ordered our coffee, pizza & steamed vegetables! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and beautifully presented. We felt special, as the waitress came and checked how we were enjoying the food! We were delighted with all aspects of our visit to “MAINSAIL” and will go again! I personally would recommend that discerning dinners visit “ MAINSAIL” for a memorable dining experience!    Always exceptional service and amazing food. The atmosphere is always buzzing in the bar, or a quieter more relaxed setting in the restaurant. Best of both worlds! Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The curries and naan to die for, garlic prawn salad delish, I could go on! Great selection of drinks too

   This place was a real surprise as I did not expect the Indian food to be sooooo good. One of the best places for curry and the chefs special goat curry was so yummy. The beef curry with a coconut base was also worth ordering. Ordered the chicken lollipop, calamari, kids fish nuggets and chips and everything was perfect. Butter Naan and chocolate brownie with ice cream was also fantastic. Can't fault any of the items ordered. Spoke to one of the staff who said the place was under new management so definitely a must try for some top quality Indian food. Service was also fast and friendly.

   I was there celebrating a birthday with friends, staff was lovely, good service, food was yummy , my only complaint is you can't show in the menu that mains are coming with two sides and then the waitress said the menu is wrong only one side is included. That is wrong!
