“Driving through on our way south, the breakfast I had from this cute little cafe was delicious!! The flavour combinations were great!(i had the avocado toast on rosti potatoes instead of sour dough) Holy recommend!”

“Ordered the chilli scram and it was really good! The spring onions and chillis were a great addition, and added depth and flavour to the dish. The scrambled eggs themselves were velvety and delicious, and the sourdough underneath was buttered and toasted to perfection. The rest of the table seemed to really enjoy their meals as well! The atmosphere here is lively but not too loud, so none of us struggled to have conversations and hear one another. Overall, a great experience and we'll be back :)”

“The place is worth a try. The atmosphere is wonderful and makes you feel warm in this cold winter. It was a wonderful experience for me this morning and the girl who was at the reception was very wonderful. The service is excellent. Do not miss the opportunity to try the Swiss Roll Cake. It is one of the best cakes I have tried in my life. It is light and fluffy and the piece is an excellent size.”

“I have been wanting to try this place for some time now on my work visits down from Auckland. Glad I finally did, new fav Hamilton restaurant! Service was outstanding, food was absolutely delicious. I had the Turkish meatballs as per wait staff recommendation (I would not normally order this dish first up) and I did not regret it. Portion size was not huge (which I prefer) so room for desert and the baklava and tahini ice cream did not disappoint. You can tell there are some generational recipes being passed down here. Yum!”

The unique and inviting interior, along with their delicious homemade dishes, such as pies, snacks, cakes, and burgers, exceeded my expectations. “I took a group of 8 ladies to Alpino on Saturday for a Luxe Day Out for my business Her Luxe Travel and we had a phenomenal time. Not only were Alpino great to work with to set up how I wanted the experience, on the day they delivered 110%. The food was to die for, service was friendly and efficient. We were sat in the area at the front that is somewhat closed off from the rest of the restaurant and it couldn't have been more perfect. “Came to Matamata with family, who are very picky eaters. When you walk in, the restaurant is split into a kebab shop portion and proper restaurant with double height ceiling with soft ambient lighting. Staff service was very polite, respectful and attentive. We ordered 9 dishes from chicken, to mussells to the vege platter. All of them tasted amazing! Our favourites were the: - Spanish mussells, the flavour of the sauce mixed well with bread. - Lamb cutlets, the Charcoal held well with the scent of the meat. Would recommend anyone to join, from couples wanting a nice dinner date to larger families, as ty have large numbers of seating. Cost is as per menu, not the cheapest in town, not fine dining; worth the price.”

“Staying in our motorhome we must say we were impressed. From the check ✅ in, with Kirsten, and the advice and help we received from the start. A beautiful Holiday Park with everything so clean and tidy. The playground too, is well thought out for childrens pleasure during their stay. Very handy to the beach and rolling surf, our two small dogs were in heaven when we all went down to the sand. It is fantastic that the dogs are allowed to be with us on holiday during the off season. The showers were nice and hot water aplenty. A friendly little bunny was not at all worried about two highly excited dogs because it sat just outside their wire fenced yard and teased them. In all a great place to stay and we will be back.
