“We took the one hour wildlife cruise from Wellers Rock. The guide was very knowledgeable about the birds and other wildlife, their lifecycle, nesting and lots of other information. We saw albatross, little penguins and a couple of seals. They have jackets and binoculars that you can use. Great cruise, really enjoyed it.”
“Such a wonderful place to visit. So many things to offer for young and old. You have to visit all the areas, the herb circle, playground feeding the ducks was hilarious with our kids. We came back again to explore more and see the aviary which was awesome, the birds are hilarious and beautiful.”
“Beautiful place. If you are here only for an afternoon or you have a SC vehicle it is a good spot. It is just few metres from the beach, there are picnic tables to use, serviced toilets, outdoor shower, dump station and running watter as well as a sink for washing up (cold water only though). There are 10 spots for the camping in ur car and they do fill up in quick after 3 pm. Beautiful sunrise. Good for dipping in the sea but beware of currents.”
“It's such a beautiful walk views are amazing must do walk”
“This is my favourite place to walk.Nice sea views!! After your walk there are heaps of choices for cafes.Lovely coffee and sea views at the Salt Water pool cafe.”
“Great loop track walk - a couple of good climbs to work up a brunch appetite... Nice and scenic too...”
“this trail was easy to moderate and had some uphill parts and flat parts. its a very fun and interesting trail as it has a mix of walking through forest, bush areas and open flat areas. the views are really nice throughout the whole walk too!!”
“My wife our daughter and her family have stayed in a holiday home there for the past two years and plan to do so next year. We love the beach. Lovely sand, great for children and dogs to play. We saw many dogs and horses up and down the beach. There are cliffs at the southern end where houses have a wonderful sea view. As we walked down that way we saw that there were " islands" there. Soft smooth sand and fantastic rocks to explore. The rock formations are splended, well worth the visit. The chilren and pet dog loved climbing over the rocks and cliffs.”
“A beautiful hidden gem! Gravel trail which leads to a beautiful and surreal view of the beach! Best to wear takkies, carry a jacket and a bottle of water as the trail is long, gets windy and is quite a workout.. but absolutely worth every step!”
“The Ross Creek Reservoir is an artificial lake. One of the oldest artificial lakes in the country, and the oldest water supply reservoir still in use in the country, it was created in the 1860s to provide water for the city of Dunedin, at that time in the middle of rapid expansion due to the goldrush. It is like a track, walk run whatever one want they can do it.it has a good history and also waterfall u might think its natural but its not as its the artificially created but its lovely.”
“Excellent beach, very calm day. Great for a swim.”
“It's a nice walk, only the sandy parts are a bit hard to walk.”
“Great place check out the city. Also found a teenage blackbird bath in a dirty water hole. Brave bird wasn’t afraid of me at all but it didn’t know bathing in dirty water won’t get itself clean”
“Beautiful place to visit. It was a good day when we went, nice sunny day. Kids' parks are there, and toilets are available for the public. There is a cafe area there, too. Free car parking. Overall, it was a very good experience. You can plan a good picnic day with kids there. Always carry a light jacket just in case of rain or wind.”
“Stunning views of the peninsula and ocean, with dramatic cliffs and erosion formations. The trail is easy, but close to cliff edges at some points so be careful. And there are sheep. Who doesn't love sheep? The road to get there is a narrow dirt road. I would avoid it in the rain, in an old, manual van.”
“Fantastic views South to Dunedin, and north up the coast, and inland to the remaining peaks. Apparently very few people make their way up here, perhaps because a lot of students don't have cars, but the view really is worth the short trip up the hill, as long as the weather is good.”
“Great dog park. Well set up. Loved the agility course”
“This is a unique time capsule and an example of very clever late 19th/early 20th century innovations in domestic architecture/technology. Absolutely fascinating and guides were encyclopedic in their knowledge. Even the family history was attention grabbing. Everybody in our group was impressed with this place. 6 (or 7) out of 5 stars.”
“A really fun thing to do. And this is coming from a girl who is by no means a beer fanatic. Thomas was a great tour guide, incredibly knowledgable and very passionate. Good sense of humour too. Really cool to do a truly South Island experience, delicious beer tasting at the end, plus the gift shop does actually have quite cool stuff! Thanks for a fun arvo team :)”
“Explore the magic of glow worms at this fantastic free spot, conveniently close to the city. Remember to bring a headlamp to navigate in the dark, just be mindful not to shine it towards others. Embrace the enchantment responsibly and enjoy the glow worm spectacle!”
“Great place for either children playing on the skate ramp or on swing etc”
“Lovely beach. Safe wee area and then extends around the rocks, goes on for a very long while.”
“The Mole (spit) is a man made Peninsula at the northern opening of the Otago Harbour. It's built on a series of ship wrecks and covered with rocks. You may see an abundance of sea life, including Sea Lions, Seals, Penguins and lots of sea birds.”
“Beautiful caves after just a short walk down the beach”
“Spectacular trees, and nice place to chill out”
“Good walking track. Return walk almost for 4 hours.”
“An exceptionally beautiful beach where, with a bit of luck, you might spot many sea lions. Even if you don't see any, the beach is worth a visit, but the walk up and down is a bit arduous or takes a bit more time.”
“Lovely place to spend a sunny day, all ages welcome”
“Comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the sea. I slept like a log to the sound of the waves and woke up to an amazing view. Recommended.”
