We drove all the way up as it was the middle of the day. The view was amazing. There is a track but we will do it the next time
The views was spectacular. Unpaved roads so u'll be driving Gravel. The roads up include a stretch of single-lane roads.. very steep, even steeper than baldwin's.. drive carefully when going up and down. No street lamps... Alot of bends. Takes abt 20mins from Dunedin central. It faces south... it would be quite a place (and height) watching the aurora.. just drive safely... and slow.
Super easy access to panoramic views, you can literally drive all the way to the top?! Superb! Some nice walks from the tower too
Gorgeous views all the way around. Stunning place to take photos and wander about. Easy drive but the last few kilometers are gravel & steep. Decent sized parking lot at the top.
Truly a fantastic spot to visit to capture the whole region in one shot. Check for road conditions, only 10km drive from city centre.
You can always see the tower from afar. And always want to reach the top. You can either drive your car or hike. But either way, it's worth it. While driving here , you pass some farms. Serenely beautiful and peaceful. When you reach the top, on one side you have the mountain and the otehr is the sea. Whata combination. And don't mix it with mount Kargill of Asia though.
Amazing views as always. For those who haven't been before Cowan Road to the lookout is gravel so it does have some potholes and ridges. Drive carefully.
Great viewpoint - a short drive from the city to see in the evening, or a long walk up from Bethune's Gully or Sawyers Bay. If you drive to the top it's a fairly easy but fun walk to Buttars Peak to see more!
Fantastic views South to Dunedin, and north up the coast, and inland to the remaining peaks. Apparently very few people make their way up here, perhaps because a lot of students don't have cars, but the view really is worth the short trip up the hill, as long as the weather is good.
