The Mole (spit) is a man made Peninsula at the northern opening of the Otago Harbour. It's built on a series of ship wrecks and covered with rocks. You may see an abundance of sea life, including Sea Lions, Seals, Penguins and lots of sea birds.

Absolutely loved walking along the sea wall. Saw several seals at the end of the wall along the rocks. The views are great. On one side the beach and the other the spit. Itβs also the entrance to the bay where Port Chalmers is. So it would be cool to come back here when a cruise ship is passing. Also across the way is the lighthouse and end of the otago. All in all a perfect place to spend an hour.

A bracing walk in cool, windy weather... no shelter out here. Wonderful views of Tairoa Head and the Albatross colony across the harbour entrance. Lots of wildlife, especially seals, so you need to be aware of your surroundings so that you keep your distance. We saw one in the water catch a huge fish, amazing sight. A few people fishing

Long drive, I like it. Nice beaches either side of the mole. Long walk out and didn't get to the end coz there were two seals on the walkway so opted to turn around and head back. Saw Fairy terns, shags and seals on the rocks towards the end of the mole hanging out. Awesomely clear water.

Unbelievable stench from the seagulls. Spotting some seals. Amazing shells on the beach beside, but don't get caught out by the tide.

Aramoana = "Pathway to the Sea" Indeed !!! A truly gorgeous beach with amazing scenery and vibrant wildlife. The bounty of beautiful seashells that wash up here is absolutely endless, as is the picturesque serenity that surrounds the area.

Aramoana Beach is just awesome. There's a cliff with a hole in it there. Huge beach and easy to park there. The views are pretty and amazing scenery with the cliffs that rise up behind you. Good surf area. There's also the option of doing (some of) the Heyward Point walk that takes you on top of the cliff looking down on the beach. Amazing change of perspective of the same place.
