My favorite experience on the last day in Dunedin - it was really rainy, but we saw this glow worms anyway. The walk to them is about 10 minutes and you don't have to go past the wood bridge - you can see them on the rocks by the sign already. Go after sunset and be safe!

100% recommend!! Do after sunset!!!! Free to visit. 250m from parking to glow worms. We did the waterfall walk first to wait for sunset. It’s basic but might be fun for kids. Lots of uphill but it is a short walk. The glow worms were amazing and there were thousands of them!! All up the walls and in the ferns. Very beautiful and we had the place to ourselves. I have been to tourist glow worm caves and experiences before and I loved this so much more!

We saw many thounds of glow worms last night! Really amazing and breathtaking experience. As this spot is not so frequently visited, we had the place alone for some time. Very romantic but also a little bit scary at the same time. A very easy and short walk. But be careful, there is another starting point for another track named "Nicols Creek Track". That's the wrong way!!! Go over the bridge on the left side and look for a sign with "waterfall and glow worms" on it. This is the right way!!! Bring your flash light or even better your red light and start 30-60 min after sunset. After 10-15 min straight walk you reach a narrow wall maid of stone and the track ends in a creek with many stones in it (don't look for a cave as the worms are located on the side walls). Turn off your light and watch thousand over thousand blue shining glow worms. Some are bright. Some are dim. Some are blinking. It really looks like a night sky with blue stars... Simply magical!! And everything for free!

Explore the magic of glow worms at this fantastic free spot, conveniently close to the city. Remember to bring a headlamp to navigate in the dark, just be mindful not to shine it towards others. Embrace the enchantment responsibly and enjoy the glow worm spectacle!

Great authentic glow worm grotto. Gravelled but wet and a little muddy track for access. Track goes through native bush into an area with high rock walls covered with vegetation and glow worms. Parking on roadside only and glow worms are about 200 meters from the road. Child friendly, bring a torch.

What a beautiful adventure in the night to go see this special sight. The walk up wasn't too bad... make sure you're wearing good shoes though! It was truly a magical experience being up there with the glow worms. We took the kids with us as well... and although they were scared of the dark, they were blown away by these little glowing creatures that they called 'the stars of the forest'. if i get the opportunity, I'll definitely do this again when I'm next in Dunedin.

There are several places to see glow worms in caves and other places. It is surprising to go just outside of Denedin, New Zealand for a short hike to see them after dark. There's not a parking lot for the hike. The trail has gravel. Go straight. Watch for the cliffs on the left and the waterfall on the right. The glow worms will be brightest after the last light of sunset is gone. Don't shine your light at them. Enjoy.

A good sized waterfall in the city. A 15 min walk that can be slippery and muddy in places, with a few wet rocks to climb over to stand at the foot of the waterfall. Quite picturesque and it's nice that you don't feel like you're in the city. For a little more adventure walking up Nicols Creek to the watefall (via the glow worm track) is quite fun and there are some pretty spots along the way. Kids and dogs love it!

The walk to the glow worms is short and relatively easy, it was however quite muddy and wet. The walk to the waterfall was quite challenging, I would recommend using hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers, specially if it's been raining. Bring a torch if you are going at dusk. Very beautiful and peaceful
