“Clean shop, great product. Fish is nice and thick with a clean batter. Staff are nice and can understand the order! The hotdog doesn't have a stick which was werid. Scoop size is very big. One scoop is huge!”

“Sal's is our absolute favourite pizza place, we go every week for date night. Recently moved over this side of town and absolutely thrilled that the local Sal's is just as good as the one in town. We've been to almost every store in Christchurch now and always have the same great experience. Nothing compares to Sal's. The Papanui staff were friendly and provided excellent customer service. Pizza was hot, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the buffalo chicken pizza and pepperoni wheel.”

“We had a lovely lunch at Winnie Bagoes with my work crew yesterday. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside ... perfect spot to enjoy the sun and people watch. Service was excellent from the moment we arrived. Our server quickly put the umbrella up, took our drink orders, and was back in no time with them. He handled all our pizza questions like a pro — friendly, clear, and efficient. The pizzas were delicious (as always), and everything came out promptly. A relaxed, sunny lunch with great service and great food. Would definitely recommend for a casual group lunch in town.”

The wontons were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the pork ramen was rich and comforting with a deep, savory broth, and the chicken karaage was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. “Not being from Christchurch we wanted some Chinese and found this place which we decided to try. A little on the pricey side but we really enjoyed our dishes, honey bbq pork is delicious, great sweet and sour pork, satay chicken, combination fried rice and singpore noodles. “Came into dinner for our mums 60th, and the food was immaculate. Fresh, hot, big plates, very flavoursome, good amount of veggies, well presented. Service was great and people in the kitchen are very nice. Support local guys, you won’t be disappointed!!”

“An unreserved 5 out of 5 when taking into account quality and value. Naan breads are huge, Tandoor Chicken was fantastic, and the several curries I've tried were delicious. Underrated hidden gem. 2023 edit: still fantastic even though prices marginally up. Can’t go past the ‘Old Fashioned Lamb Curry’….seriously, it’s really good; even if the vege constituents vary and the name doesn’t tally with swanky fare. The naan’s are still the biggest and most legit you’ll find from any Indian takeaway. Would love to see what tandoor they’re rocking back there! Do yourself a favour and visit these guys. 2024 edit: yup, still the best. Little more spensey, but that reflects the general situation everywhere. Two old fashioneds with rice, some bhajis, a tandoor chicken, a couple of naans……you’ll eat like a maharaja for going on four days or more. Best naans ever. 2025 edit: Absolutely hands down the best. The old-fashioned lamb curry cannot be beat, and must be the signature dish in my opinion. Roiling away for days on end, random bits and pieces added as some sort of eternal curry; vegetable components changing but flavour evolving. Naans giant. Tandoor chicken epic. Eat for days. Ignore the 1-star review casuals.”

“CAFE KUDOS - 235 Annex Rd. Just had an amazing meal at Kudos. It was delicious & generous serving. I couldnt eat it all. Amazing latte too. We used first table but worth the full price. Pleasant place witb a nice outdoor sitting area.”
