I have lived in China for the better part of a decade, and not many Chinese restaurants in New Zealand can replicate an authentic experience. Emperor’s Kitchen is different not only is the food really really good. It is also very clean and the owner is super friendly and welcoming. And if you’re not sure what to choose to eat, he will help you out and recommend some really delicious dishes! Overall a great experience and I will definitely be going back very soon.

Noodles have good chewiness to them which is what I love about hand pulled. Taste is quite sweet and vinegary, not balanced enough with the spice and savory for me. It also came with some random McCain mixed veg, which was unnecessary and put me off. I got this via Uber Eats so I have service and atmosphere a 5, as I haven’t been there, but food wise, I wouldn’t go back.

Delicious and very satisfying food. Wonderful flavours and atmosphere that make one feel like they are in China. Highly recommended. Vegan and vegetarian are catered for, although limited. But hey, what is here is worth coming for.

Authentic chinese food. Had the Q20 and the broth is nothing short of amazing. Pork dumplings were on point as well.

The hot and sour beef noodle soup and Chinese burger we ordered are superb. The pita bread soak in lamb soup and the hot and sour dumpling soup are super delicious. Reasonable price and fast service.

After reading the positive reviews about this place I'd been dying to try it. Big disappointment when we did last night. Salt is big on the menu from the broth in my spicy beef noodles to the wontons. The shiny layer of oil on top of the noodles with soup is a big put off. The beef ramen broth just tasted like salt water. Spicy burger filling was alright but the buns were hard and chewy. I think the best dish was the split oil noodles. Other than that i don't think I'd go back for anything.

Food is nice, just few things to improve: The spoon too easy drop into the soup. The Chinese style port burger has lots of juices, better served with a small bowl? Looks like it’s a family business, people work there is nice to deal with. A place worth to try anyway.

It could be the best place for Xi’an food in Chch. The restaurant is small and no many parking outside. I came at before 6 pm and there were lots of customers around 6:15 pm. But you could find a seat easily before 6 pm or after 7 pm. The price is reasonable. It tastes good and authentic. Would come back again.

What can I say: the best Xi’an noodle I’ve had in New Zealand! Stay with chicken soup base if you can’t deal with the heat. But the spicy beef noodle tastes phenomenal! The stir-fried beef burger is so unexpectedly tasty as well. Makes me sad that they do not open for breakfast. Otherwise will definitely come and grab a bowl of hot noodles on winter days!
