“Over looking the Huia bay, this picturesque lookout offers a breathtaking sight of the backwaters in the Waitakere region. A short yet lovely escape place from the city. Ideal to visit in the evenings with friends and family , right before sunset. Visiting this place is totally free of cost with ample parking space available. For groups visiting with toddlers and children below age of 10, it’s better to be careful and monitor while walking towards the viewing deck thought the railings are quite high.”

    Glenbrook Vintage Railway

    ★★★★☆ 4.7
    Open

“It was a nice experience at the Glenbrook Vintage Railway. It was good that we arrived early, around 5:30 pm, because after that there were long queues for tickets, food stalls, and even Santa. Be really prepared for long queues, even the toilets had lines. There were lots of people lining up for food, especially the beef sausage wiener. We brought our own food but still ended up buying some because there were so many food options to choose from. The train and station were beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, both inside and outside the train, which really added to the festive atmosphere. There was also a short festive balloons display. Riding the vintage steam train and smelling the smoke and steam made the experience feel authentic and memorable.”

“We had a lovely birthday party here for my daughter’s 9th birthday. Lynn is such a lovely and kind lady and so is her staff. Everything was exactly as described on their website for pony party. They have a huge and very well maintained farm. All kids and adults enjoyed the animal encounters and kids just loved the pony and horse rides. Nobody was rushed and kids had multiple rides. We really enjoyed and I can’t recommend this place enough for its hospitality. God bless them.”

“"We're off on an adventure!" BEST HOBBITON TOUR PACKAGE. Worth every penny! You're lucky if you get Rachel as your coach driver and tour guide. She's very knowledgeable of NZ history and facts. She kept us entertained and informed for the whole trip (a 2-hr ride) towards The Hobbiton Movie set. Her humor and jokes are topnotch, made us laugh quietly throughout the trip. She took care of us well and gave us the best way to enjoy our Hobbiton tour. Tiberius, our Hobbiton tour guide is well informed as well of the movie franchise especially everything about Hobbiton! He gave us enough time to take pictures and roam around. LOTR and the Hobbit Puns and humour, hands-down Ti, we give you 5-Stars! Just coz we dig it! >”

“Excellent hike, bit of a drive to get there but the views are worth it! Some notes - Parking is limited and entrance is free. Toilets by the parking area, but water is untreated. BYO snacks and rehydration. Early mornings are great however, rain and wet grass and several muddy patches will require better hiking equipment, waterproof hiking boots and even hiking gear. Watch out for slippery slopes, muddy paths and cow pies. Livestock roaming between fences and gates, please respect property boundaries, keep gates and fences closed. Farm animals generally ignore you as you pass by, and a few disgruntled cows did reluctantly trod away. Weather permitting, rainy days offer no shelter out on this hike, hot sunny days would be perfect. Not all picnic tables are clean, the ducks do kinda get around... The views are absolutely worth it. Two thumbs up!!”
