Absolutely wonderful place. Food was great ...big portions. Sister visiting from USA wants to go back again... lots of space and choices where to dine. Inside pub like atmosphere. Outside get your Sunnys. Restaurant area quiet, intimate and charming . Worth the detour any day of the week.
We visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon and the vibe was great. A live band was playing good tunes, not so loud that you couldn't enjoy a good yarn with your mates, and the staff were courteous and friendly. We arrived when it was very busy so the wait time for a cooked meal from the menu was an hour so keep that in mind if visiting when busy. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and look forward to stopping in again over summer.
A quick stop off on our trip and what a find! Great service, Pub like food and cold drinks, couldn't ask for anything more. Loved this little pub and would recommend.
Always a great place to stop if you are North of Auckland for either good food or a quick drink. Have been doing do since the late 1995 onwards. Also facilities across the road at the park, if really busy.
Didn’t expect that the inside is full of character and we loved it! Simple yet tasty meals were served. Not too bad for a small lovely town! Service was good and staff were friendly. Wasn’t serving coffee that day because coffee machine was broken, not their fault though. Otherwise, a unique dining experience for us.
WARNING: Gang pub with bad overpriced food. Patched members smoking weed inside while there's kids around, staff didn't do anything. Paid $65 for the platter below, that included stale bread and $12 worth of cheap frozen food (I think some of it was sausage???). Would not recommend to families.
Excellent food and local beer. Highly recommend beef nachos (mild spice), cheeseburger, and calamari. Pizza is thin crust, tasty but I prefer doughy type. Service is tops and really worth having a beer and soaking in the history if you are not up for food
