“Standard parking. Reasonably prices. Short stroll to main entrance of zoo”
“Excellent free tram rides between the MOTAT sites. These museums are a must for any visitor to Auckland.”
“Auckland Zoo is an easy standout. The staff and volunteers are genuinely friendly and make the whole place feel welcoming. The animals look well cared for and the habitats are clean and well maintained. Plenty to keep the kids entertained with lots of space to explore and learn. Also, the coffee at the front cafe is surprisingly good which is always a win. A smooth, enjoyable visit from start to finish. Great place for families. Parking was closed due to renovations, so we had to park near MOTAT. Nice walk through the park though.”
“Zoo boxing is the gym out east ... Unleash your animal”
“The team is not only knowledgeable but also incredibly responsive, friendly and receptive.”
“The people running the car park were great to deal with and we're really nice”
“Thank you Adam for an awesome first-time canyoning experience!! The waterfall was beautiful and very powerful! It's so fun and exhilarating to abseil down the Kitekite falls in Piha.”
“Nice place to wander around looking at the lambs and the flowers. The only downside is the people who can't or won't follow the signs and therefore pick the flowers or drive down the area of twin oaks drive which is now closed off so that it can be used as a walking path. IDIOTS !”
“It's pretty nice over there saw a couple of animals.”
“Fantastic experience for locals and tourists alike. The pricing is very fair considering what’s involved. You’re given a fair choice of courses to partake in to suit all ages. The courses are various, which keeps it interesting no matter your skill level or confidence with heights. At heights varying from 1 to 10 metres, you’ll have to go through tunnels, across beams, weave in between posts or even just walk the tightrope with nothing but a cable to keep your balance. Highly recommend the day out.”
“The first thing I want to say is how lucky I was to make the right decision. My son is three years old, and before that I visited a lot of places and did a lot of research. I knew a little bit about the environment before I came here and courses are great. I didn't expect too much for the teachers to be so friendly and responsible. For me, the feelings and experiences of children are more important than anything else. Because my son has not attended any day care before, his native language is not English, and his grandmother often takes care of him went back home for a period of time, which makes me worried about whether he will adapt to the new environment. All teachers, the front desk staff and the centre manager all understood my concerns and cooperated with each other to help my son to adapt faster and better. After two weeks transiting,my son is happy to stay and not crying after we drop him off. I am really grateful to the teachers there and this is the most responsible place I have encountered. They will understand the parents' thoughts and concerns, and work together, everything is for the sake of the child. Hope my son will have a wonderful journey in kakapo creek.”
“Easy track with stunning ocean views. There are beautiful beaches as well. Animal encounters are pleasant.”
“One of the best regional parks - you can have sea, mountain and birds with stunning views. The playground was super fun for kids while most people coming here for surfing or see the garnet colony. It’s a paradise for bird lovers or photographers. This is a perfect for capturing the West Coast sunset!”
“Such a little gem of a place with bush walks and a beach that is beautiful. Lots of bird life and trees to shelter from the sun. Just a great place.”
“We had a wonderful time at this free farm, which offers a large and open space perfect for families. The weather was beautiful when we visited around noon, and our two kids couldn’t have been happier. They enjoyed running around and exploring the farm, and seeing the newborn lambs was a special treat—they were absolutely adorable! The farm is well-maintained and provides a relaxing, fun atmosphere for both kids and adults. It’s a fantastic spot for a family outing, especially on a sunny day!”
“Overall, Kingwood Reserve provides a peaceful and scenic escape from the city, allowing visitors to connect with nature and explore Auckland's natural beauty.”
“It is a botanical jungle within the city which has fauna & flora of most plants. Each one of them has been labelled & grouped in different category, making it a haven for botany students & easy to differentiate for the layman. Must visit while in Auckland.”
“Love going to the zoo was good to see Auckland zoo again”
“This is a family friendly farm. We used to take kids here for the family day. It’s also the start for Watercare coastal walkway. There is a barn here plus two car parks, a shelter, toilets, BBQ spots and camping grounds. There are farm animals such as sheep, lamb and horses.”
“Great playground for small and older kids alike. There are several challenging (but safe) features for my 12 year old, and giant slides (think 30-40 meters high) for my 8 year old. Great way to burn off energy. Be aware that the picnic tables have splinters!”
“My family of three, which includes a 9 year old, loved this event on vacation!! Two hours was plenty to learn time be safe and try the rapids several times. Options were available for swim levels to drift downstream. Our guide, George, was amazing and persistent with the three children in our raft without being harsh. Video is purchased separately for your experiences. The changing area is large and clean.”
“My family and I loved this farm. The animals and the tractor ride. The best part was the peacock. So beautiful and fun feeding the lamas. Absolutely coming back again!”
“Stunning regional park. Can book beach front accommodation through Auckland Regional Council”
“A great facility catering for many needs. Horses communicate in many ways to heal and repair damaged souls.”
“Simply spectacular! Clean toilets, lots of drinking water taps all over the walking trails and the playground. No rubbish bins on site, so I guess you gotta take your rubbish back with you. There are designated dog walk paths on leash and marked off leash areas..”
“Excellent hike, bit of a drive to get there but the views are worth it! Some notes - Parking is limited and entrance is free. Toilets by the parking area, but water is untreated. BYO snacks and rehydration. Early mornings are great however, rain and wet grass and several muddy patches will require better hiking equipment, waterproof hiking boots and even hiking gear. Watch out for slippery slopes, muddy paths and cow pies. Livestock roaming between fences and gates, please respect property boundaries, keep gates and fences closed. Farm animals generally ignore you as you pass by, and a few disgruntled cows did reluctantly trod away. Weather permitting, rainy days offer no shelter out on this hike, hot sunny days would be perfect. Not all picnic tables are clean, the ducks do kinda get around... The views are absolutely worth it. Two thumbs up!!”
“Beautiful well maintained Park with a wide variety of birds and their young. Great walks around the park.”
“We had a lovely birthday party here for my daughter’s 9th birthday. Lynn is such a lovely and kind lady and so is her staff. Everything was exactly as described on their website for pony party. They have a huge and very well maintained farm. All kids and adults enjoyed the animal encounters and kids just loved the pony and horse rides. Nobody was rushed and kids had multiple rides. We really enjoyed and I can’t recommend this place enough for its hospitality. God bless them.”
