“Highly recommended by a Japanese local! The Tonkotsu Ramen here is amazing. They offer three types of ramen: Tonkotsu, Tonkotsu Shoyu, and Yuzu Shoyu. I tried the Tonkotsu and it was absolutely delicious. The noodles were thin with a great texture, and the wontons were soft and juicy. It’s evident that the chef is truly dedicated. I definitely come back! They mentioned that the restaurant had just reopened two weeks ago.”

“Great service when entered & while eating Food didn't take long to come out Taste of food was beautiful very flavoursom with generous size to share ✴️The butchers block that was huge size able to feed up to 8 ppl although could of done with a side of garden salad & the colsaw as the colsaw was to rich on its own & it was runny needing to be in a bowl but yes different salad to break the meat would of been nice, yes all the meat tasty & tender yes worth a block ppl ✴️The blacksmith cheeseburger was OK needed more mayo or burger sauce was a bit dry biting into it , was expecting cheesy flavor couldn't finding in the bite. ✴️Surf n Turf was on par with cooking steak medium rare prawns & muscles done right ✅️ just needed a bit more salad & sauce. ✴️ Ceasars salad✅️ beautiful meaty & tasty It Complemented the butcher block had shared it around so worth. ✴️ mash potatoe was very tasty & smooth shared between 3ppl was beautiful ✅️ ✴️ Garlic pizza bread was tasty ✅️ but would of just got a normal Garlic bread. ✴️ Jug of coke & raspberry costly & when got to taste had no fizz it tasted flat had advised the waitress she had bought out a new jug . When sitting and talking towards end of the meal felt rushed with waitresses coming in interrupted conversations by asking to take thing off the table & the supervisors other waiters lingering around the bar area to where they could advise waitresses of emptying tables to get ppl out sooner they got in . It was like that when eating we were seated not far and could see they were lingering around it was uncomfortable. If they could spread out or hang back in backhouse it wouldn't feel weird. Other than that would definitely go back & highly recommend but find seating further from bar area.”

“Indian restaurant in Ellerslie. A real gem of a restaurant. Can't fault any aspect of this place. The food was delicious, fresh and tasty and the service was very good. We were a party of 11 and all our meals were made within a reasonable time from ordering. The decor really adds to the experience. I look forward to going back when I'm in the country and in the mood for great quality Indian cuisine.”

“We found ourselves in Birkenhead again, and after having a great experience at Ala Turca, we decided to try something different. That’s when we came across Chef Rasa Sayang, a Malaysian restaurant I had seen recommended on Reddit. At first glance, the place didn’t look particularly inviting, and I almost considered switching to the Korean restaurant next door. But my craving for Malaysian food won, so we gave it a shot—and I’m so glad we did! The menu offered a great variety, and I chose the slow-cooked prawn chili on rice. The rest of my family ordered chicken nasi lemak, beef rendang, and prawn assam. We’ve had nasi lemak and beef rendang at other Malaysian spots in Auckland, but this was our first time trying these other dishes. When the food arrived, we were amazed at the portion sizes—huge servings, and all for under $20 each! The slow-cooked prawns were absolutely divine, and the beef rendang and chicken curry were packed with flavor. The richness of the curry and the depth of the spices were incredible. I’m so glad I didn’t give up and head to the other restaurant. Chef Rasa Sayang has easily become one of my favorite spots on the North Shore. From now on, I’d happily choose Birkenhead over Takapuna for a meal. Highly recommend!”

“This place has great food, but it's a hole in the wall, almost literally. It opened at noon and you have to go down this long hallway with bottles hanging. You sit on rickety wooden crates, there are 3 different rooms or sections. See if you can get the one in the back it's very laid back. We tried almost Eveything, I'd say you have a hard time finding something that you don't enjoy. Try the thumbs up if you're looking for Pepsi or coke.”

“Have been a regular visitor to Brothers Beer, but this time we went for beer tasting. They do serve matching bites with each beer as well. The variety of beer they brew is always interesting. One can brew their own hops as well. The people serving were absolutely amazing, and very friendly as usual. So many vivid choices of beer, you might love some, and you probably will hate some. But the experience this place provides is unparallel. A must go for all beer lovers !!!”

The coffee too is good, one of the better places in the area I thought. Friendly, welcoming service and open on days some other cafes are not. Wish them much success!”

“I recently visited Boy and Bird and had the pleasure of trying their crispy chicken, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked with a golden, crispy exterior that gave way to juicy, tender meat inside. The seasoning was spot on, providing a nice balance of flavours without overpowering the natural taste of the chicken. The service was also friendly and efficient, making for a great overall dining experience. Highly recommend Boy and Bird if you’re craving some top-notch crispy chicken!”

“My partner recommended this restaurant for its dry noodles with peanut sauce, so we decided to visit for dinner on Sunday. We ordered the dry noodles with peanut sauce and dumplings (dandan noodles), kkwobarou, and shrimp fried rice. The noodles were delicious as expected! The peanut sauce paired perfectly with the dumplings. We loved it. The fried rice was quite good and generously portioned. Lastly, the kkwobarou, fried with a layer of glutinous rice, was incredibly tasty and sweet. I really enjoyed it! Overall, we had a great dinner here and this place is highly recommended.”

“visited Flame Pizza on Saturday for lunch and tried their burgers along with some sides, including pizza garlic bread. The burgers were incredibly well-made, fresh, and so tasty — truly impressive! The garlic bread was also delicious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and they really made my day with their great service. Service was friendly and the food was good. The servings were reasonable and the prices were affordable. If you like some simple Chinese food, this may be the place for you.”
