   I booked a group of 8 over the phone, and the women was friendly and helpful. Service on the night was great, the food came out really quickly and it was DELICIOUS! Fresh ingredients, generous servings, and beautiful presentation. Everyone in the group was really happy with their meal. No photos because we were all too excited about tucking in!

   Renkon is one of my favourite Japanese restaurant franchises, and I was glad to find one in Takapuna. My partner and I went there for dinner. I ordered the Kaarage Chicken Don, while my partner ordered the Egg Chicken Katsu Don. We also ordered takoyaki. The food arrived quickly, and the flavours in our bowls were delicious but a little less than my expectation. The portions were generous, and overall, it was a satisfying dining experience. Water and hot tea were self-serve. On my visit today, the table wasn’t cleaned thoroughly, and the overall indoor lighting was a bit dim. However, we enjoyed our meal and had a wonderful time at this restaurant and recommended for anyone seeking Japanese rice and noodle bowls.

   This review is based off of my experience personally & is based off ONE of the dishes specifically. The food took an awhile to come, though was hot, which is good. When I took a bite of the food, the katsu was soggy and tasteless whilst the eggs were rather sweet and tasteless aswell. The noodles weren’t udon like it states on the menu, more like a Chinese flat noodle. I expected soup but there was only a little puddle of liquid at the bottom, though, it is probably my fault for not reading the menu correctly. If I’m being honest, the atmosphere feels like an outlet store & the menu looks not very professional. They don’t have any gluten free options and have minimal vegan/vegetarian options. Overall the food I ordered was rather pricy, & bland. I ordered the egg Katsu udon. Again, this review was just based off of my taste palette and experience there the staff weren’t rude at all, & the food taking a long time to come was probably just because they were busy due to the light festival going on down the street.

   10/10. Could not recommend them enough. My favourite donburi spot in the whole of Auckland! The staff are always so incredibly nice and welcoming, while the food is consistently so fresh, tasty and filling. Absolutely great portions and quality for the price, and there are so many options to suit everyone as there are many vegan and vegetarian options too. Everything I have tried has been fantastic. One of my all time favourite Japanese restaurants. You will not regret it!

   Tempura was genuinely terrible and uneatable. Battered prawns and greasy, burnt, deep fried vege fritter… Comparable to a local fish and chip shop.

   The food was pretty good, it stacks up pretty well against other Japanese noodle bars (udon or ramen) that I've been to and it's fairly priced. It's mostly self service but they do bring the food to your table when it's ready. They're very fast in getting the food out and very polite.

   My favourite Renkon since they offer the Salmon and Rice bowl! Great food at a great price. Took the whole family there and although the menu is quite limited everyone was able to find something they wanted. Fed a whole family of 8 (4 couples) for $145 including sides.
