“Great place for small easy hike and swim in waterfall. Can do up to MacDonald trek for good lookout but lots of stairs and climb”
“The Lower Huia Dam is about a 40-minute drive from Auckland and makes a nice short trip into the Waitākere Ranges. From the carpark, it’s an easy walk to the reservoir area. The surroundings are peaceful, with farmland and hills nearby, and sometimes sheep grazing in the fields. The highlight is the bellmouth spillway — a rare circular overflow structure that looks like a giant vertical funnel. It’s quite impressive to see in person and not something you often come across in New Zealand. The dam top also gives good views of the lake and surrounding hills. It’s generally very quiet, and we hardly saw other visitors during our walk. On a rainy day, the atmosphere felt fresh and calm, and the whole place had a very tranquil vibe. Worth a stop if you’re exploring the west coast or the Waitākere Ranges.”
“Does anyone know who owns rights or lease to this reserve?”

“Good place to get your bits and bobs for the kitchen if you are staying around the area. Had fresh produce as well and the prices for their other groceries are slightly cheaper than the bigger supermarkets. Open early and closes late as well so super convenient if you are in the area.”

Walking through the illuminated pathways adorned with beautifully crafted lanterns was truly enchanting. The variety of shapes and designs showcased the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Chinese culture. The atmosphere was lively with traditional music, dance performances, and delicious food stalls offering a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine. It was a magical evening that left a lasting impression, perfect for families and friends to enjoy together.”

“This wonderful Café, tucked behind an old railway station that feels straight out of a Harry Potter movie, is a total gem. The cozy vibe, with its vintage decor, makes it a great spot to kick back and relax. Their food is delicious—try the sandwiches and pastries, paired with some fantastic coffee. The staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home. Whether you’re hanging out with friends or just enjoying some quiet time, this place is perfect for a chill day. Definitely check it out!”

“Chris is committed to looking after our teeth. And is honest as the sun rises each day! Its not always what I want to hear. But I follow his advice. And he takes care of the rest. And I have seen the results. I thought sensitive gums was something I had. But after a couple years with Chris, my gums are not anywhere near as sensitive. Brilliant!”
“Pak’nSave Westgate is a newer and tidier branch that still sticks to the chain’s signature no-frills vibe. It’s built for budget shoppers, but it feels a bit more modern compared to some of the older locations. If you’re in the West Auckland area, it’s one of the better options when it comes to balancing affordability with a clean, roomy shopping experience. The store is spacious, well laid out, and usually well-stocked. Aisles are wide, which helps with the flow of foot traffic even during peak hours. It’s still a very practical setup — shelves packed high, lots of bulk products, and nothing fancy in terms of presentation — but everything’s easy to find. Prices are, as always with Pak’nSave, the main draw. You can save quite a bit here, especially on pantry staples, meat, and cleaning products. The produce section is usually decent, with a good range of fruit and veg, though the freshness can still vary day to day. The meat section offers plenty of variety at a decent price point, and the bakery’s got all the basics — bread, rolls, and the usual treats. Staff are generally helpful if you approach them, though it’s still a self-service kind of environment. Don’t expect heaps of interaction, but they’ll assist you if you ask. The checkout area is usually well-staffed, and self-service options are available for smaller shops. Queues move fairly quickly even when it’s busy. Parking is pretty good at Westgate. There’s plenty of space, and it’s easy to get in and out of the carpark compared to other branches. Being part of a large shopping complex also means you can tick off other errands while you’re in the area. Just like other Pak’nSaves, you might find some differences between what’s online and what’s actually in store, so it’s best to shop with a bit of flexibility. Overall, Pak’nSave Westgate is a strong performer. It’s clean, spacious, and reliable for those who want to get a big shop done without overspending. It’s still a no-frills setup, but it feels a little more polished than the older branches, which makes for a smoother experience all round.”
“I popped into the Albany Liquorland store last week to buy a non-alcoholic Aperol drink I had been unable to source anywhere else. Apparently very popular at the moment. I was served by Jordayne and she was FANTASTIC. There were supposed to be three bottles put aside for me, but there was a mix up and only one was available. I had driven all the way from Gulf Harbour, so was a tad disappointed. Jordayne quickly went about and ordered what I wanted from another Liquorland Store and in her own time personally delivered them to me at my home (a good 40 minute drive from the store) a couple of days later. That is what I call great service, going above and beyond. Not much of it about these days sadly. Thank you Jordayne. You are a gem and I wish you well. Kind regards Sue Evans.”
“Everything you need great customer service”
“Farro has the freshest and best quality veges, and at times it's cheaper than the supermarket. They stock many specialist products like duck and steamed buns..... The wine selection is very good, and I prefer their rose selection to supermarkets. The store has a farmers market, community feel. They offer fresh rolls, salads and coffee. I only buy deli meats from here as the quality is better than supermarket brands. Staff are friendly and helpful.”
“We celebrated our son’s third birthday here yesterday and it was the perfect venue for it. Helpful and attentive staff, wonderful food, and an open and inviting atmosphere for the children to play. A very family friendly place. Thank you Whoa! Studios ✨”
