“Great views of the lake and surrounding views, plenty of picnic places and well marked hiking trails.”
“Took the dog for a walk from the carpark along the waterfront track & just across to the Omokoroa side. A very scenic & tranquil place, with an easy accessible walking track. The sand spit is a worthwhile visit along the way.”

“Nice park down by the sea. Has modern toilets, a playground and a small boat ramp (only any good when tide is in). Also has picnic tables and a a security camera for public safety presumably. Nice place to sit and eat fish n chips. Gate gets closed in the evenings. The shutting time depends on the season.”

“Great to see that the collectibles are being shared around! Bought a great dinner : olives, gherkins, feta, edam slices, carrots, ravioli, and ginger kisses for desert. Easy nutritious and delicious (sans kisses) 'Number free' options were a bit tricky to find but we found our healthy choices eventually.”
“Jasmin was fantastic! She did a wonderful job with my cleaning and gave great oral health advice!”
“I'm so lucky to be alive and have some of my vision back thanks to the swift treatment I got from James , he found a blood clot in my left eye and I was rushed to hospital and spent 2 days in ICU , can't thank the team enough , highly recommend”
“2km uphill was a hike but we'll worth the views!”
“Amazing Freedom camping ground with fantastic facilities. For people staying in tents you can stay here for 2 nights in a row max. For Self Contained it’s 4. We arrived around 5pm and the site was very quiet, assuming the weather had hampered a lot of people’s camping adventures. Very clean and well maintained areas. Everyone here on the night we stayed were very respectful of each others space These grounds have a KiwiCamp pod where you can use a kiwiCash tag to make full use of the facilities, which include: Hot Showers, Laundry, cleaning sinks and electric cooking. You can use the toilets free of charge and there is a basic Sink and Out Tap on the side of the pod. There’s even picnic benches scattered around where you can pitch next too. And a few undercover benches too! 100% recommend this location, will hopefully get the chance to come back.”
“Beautiful hills to walk and the views when you reach to the summit is spectacular love it that's why I always go there for my walking and run.”
“We stayed here for a family wedding and it couldn't have been more enjoyable. The staff and management bent over backwards for us and we could not praise them enough for there efforts. The facilities were excellent and we had the privilege of staying in one of their newly renovated units. Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the thermal pools after a big day out exploring the area.”
“Staying in our motorhome we must say we were impressed. From the check ✅ in, with Kirsten, and the advice and help we received from the start. A beautiful Holiday Park with everything so clean and tidy. The playground too, is well thought out for childrens pleasure during their stay. Very handy to the beach and rolling surf, our two small dogs were in heaven when we all went down to the sand. It is fantastic that the dogs are allowed to be with us on holiday during the off season. The showers were nice and hot water aplenty. A friendly little bunny was not at all worried about two highly excited dogs because it sat just outside their wire fenced yard and teased them. In all a great place to stay and we will be back. Thank you. Laurie and Carol”
“This spot is absolutely stunning! The winding paths lead you on a treasure hunt, with quirky art and sculptures popping up around every corner. It's a dream for kids, with plenty to see and explore, and the slide is a bonus! The BBQ area and ample seating make it an ideal spot for a family picnic or meetup with friends. As you climb higher, the views get more breathtaking, and the gardens are simply gorgeous. Can't wait to come back!”
“Weekly visits for our grandies. The addition of the Beach Toys help Mum's not to have to bring the kitchen sink especially when parking is difficult.”
“Love this park its so good for families. Dogs and kids. Had a playback area znd the beach is accessible for swimming.”
“Lovely hiking trails through farmland. It’s not the most gorgeous walk, but it’s very pleasant. The ocean views and views of pastoral land are just gorgeous.”
“Kids had a blast! Great activity for kids of all ages. Ours range from 10-16 and all loved it (and we did too!) love the new addition and all the work that has been done around the place since we last visited!”
“We took our 18-month-old twins and they absolutely loved it. The interaction with the animals was fantastic, especially being able to feed them. It was a lovely walk around the park and very stroller-friendly, which made the visit easy and enjoyable. A great day out for families with young children — we’ll definitely be back.”
“The room was simple and very clean. The reception staff were super friendly, and the shared spaces were kept really nice and tidy!”
