It was an amazing experience for my family. Such a great way to make learning fun. Interactive and immersive with lots of information, going from ancient history to modern day. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

I visited on Oct 8. This is a great place to learn about the history of Wellington. Make sure to visit the attic and the Time Machine (or whatever is currently there). I would put in at least an hour there, if not two.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Wellington Museum. Free entry for Kiwis is such an added bonus! The exhibits were engaging and easy to explore, and I especially loved the section on the Wahine disaster β€” the short documentary was powerful and really helped to build an understanding of the full story of what happened. I didn’t get the chance to make it up to the third floor due to a school group, but I’ve heard it’s beautiful with lots of retro pieces, so I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend checking it out!

Tour guide was knowledgeable and able to answer questions. Self walk through was pleasant. Plenty to read, some interactive exhibits. A must see early in your trip to understand the history of the area. Free for locals, cost for tourist. Small extra charge for guided tour, runs on the hour.

Recently went to the Wellington Museum, first time in a few years. The exhbits were great, very comprehensive in thier information and many of them were quite fun and engaging. The more somber or serious topics were really well presented.

No one should miss this place. It's brilliant, informative, innovative, interactive, cool, and so on. Plus it is absolutely free of charge. I highly recommend going there while in Wellington. The museum is well designed, providing lots of hands on activities for children and adults. Great for School holidays. Would love to have more places for kids to do more crafts, even if we have to pay.

An awesome building on its own, and we happen to be able to catch the Barbie display, which is also quite interesting.

Awesome family friendly museum, lots of tactile and creative exhibits for the kids and best of all it’s free. Big ol’ recommendation!

An interesting place to visit, which is full of history with things to see and to read. Great to have a wonder around. Good location, not too far from the main city. Free entry. Well worth the visit and recommended.
