“I needed to get some new shoes for work and had just the best shoe shopping experience when I went into the Cashel street store last Thursday. Store manager Jeff was the best ! Really efficient, helpful, chatty, attentive and incredibly knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. I tried on a number of different styles of shoes and sizes, and nothing seemed to be a problem to him. His manner was friendly, upbeat and down-to-earth. He gave me his time and undivided attention and seemed happy to ask all of my questions (I'm not a frequent shopper and often find decision-making hard!), he didn't mind my annoying questions and indecision. Based on all the above, I ended up buying not one but two pairs of shoes/boots! Jeff had recommended the Dr Marten Wonder balsam product to me but they were out of stock. Never fear ! Jeff and his colleague located the product at a different Platypus store (in Queenstown) and arranged for it to be delivered to my house and free of charge! Unbelievably it was in my mailbox the next day ! This was the cherry on top of the icing on the cake! Such great customer care and service. Definitely heading back. I highly recommend this store to anyone after good shoes and great service. Thanks again Jeff & co.”

“I've been meaning to write a review for ages as this shop is just fantastic! I recently bought a couple of pairs of boots from the Wellington store online and they arrived promptly with a gorgeous note from the staff, "Thank you Sarah ❤️ Enjoy your beautiful new Maher boots! Love Team Welly xx" with a cute little drawing someone had done of boots splashing in a puddle! Talk about a nice personal touch! I have loved my boots all winter- thank you team Welly!!! I discovered Maher for the first time a few years ago when in Auckland for a business trip and actually video called my husband from the shop as I was so excited to discover such fun and fancy shoes and accessories for men and women! It's been my favourite go-to shoe shop ever since. And the handbags are also amazing and you can often get matching shoes and bags. My only criticism would be that they don't yet have boots for men - my husband has been super jealous of my faux fur lined boots and would love something similar in his size!”

“I was in store today and received exceptional service. Only sorry I didn't get her name. They didn't have the NB shoe in my size but it was available online. I was unsure which size I would need and she happily found pairs in a similar style for me to try. She then took it a step further and offered to order them for me. “Went in over the weekend and was served by J'Vonte, I asked to try a specific pair which didnt end up fitting the shape of my foot well and upon asking for J'Vonte's recommendations within the same brand I was bought out a few options to choose from which ended up fitting me waaaay better and also being much comfier too! I was pleasantly surprised by the level of insight the team have into their product. There's defo good service and advice out there for people who are willing to look for it, and I didn't have to look far with the team at platypus Riccarton! Awesome work!”

“Good value and very friendly staff, but during busy hours there may be a bit of wait to get served. Handy location with ample parking. Look out for specials and this is a good place/alternative for kids shoes especially. They also have decent goods return policy. Why pay twice as much if you are buying shoes that you are not gonna be wearing everyday as most shoes in NZL are made in China or other SE Asian nations. Recommending a visit to the store next time you are in the area and grab a bargain.”
