“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Experience at Area 51 - Auckland Adventure Park Our recent visit to Area 51 at Auckland Adventure Park was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Check-in was seamless, and the staff efficiently sorted out our wristbands. We appreciated that each type of pass was color-coded, making it easy to differentiate between different activities—such a thoughtful and organized system! The food at the reception was surprisingly good and well-priced. There was a great selection for both adults and kids. We especially loved the kids’ meal options, which came with drinks—perfect for families looking to grab a quick bite before heading off for more adventure. It wasn’t just about convenience; the food was delicious too! From the reception, you can either head down to the lower part of the park, where there’s a fun kids’ playground, or make your way up to the bus stop for the ride up the hill. The Mitsubishi Rosa bus ride was comfortable, offering a scenic route to the upper part of the park. Up there, the real adventure begins—luge rides, the exhilarating zip line, and the thrilling Shooting Star! One thing that stood out to us was the atmosphere. Right outside the reception, there’s a luge car on display along with a price list for each of the activities, which really adds to the excitement and anticipation. Plus, there’s a huge screen showcasing all the activities the park offers. It’s a clever way to get everyone hyped up and makes it easy to plan your day. The park is well-organized, clean, and full of fun activities for everyone. Whether you’re with family or friends, there’s something for every age group. We’ll definitely be returning, and we highly recommend Area 51 at Auckland Adventure Park to anyone looking for a thrilling adventure!”
“Awesome food and staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely a recommended restaurant. Love the sea-facing great atmosphere too! Highly recommended the grill prawns :)”
“I had a takeaway dinner tonight, and the food tastes good and very friendly. Especially, I like sushi because it tastes fresh and not greasy. Recently, many sushi restaurants taste like fusion sushi, BUT this restaurant has been in business for a long time in Pukekohe, it tastes traditional and fresh, and I can't get enough of the food even if I eat a lot. The owner is kind and very honest.”
“We've been here a few times for the trivia quizzes but most recently for dinner with friends from overseas, we were all impressed by the warm welcome from the staff and the excellent service. The meals were a generous size and all delicious, I had the pork belly which was done perfectly. A good selection of wines and spirits in a cozy "corner pub" atmosphere.”
“First time diners after recently moving to the area, we had 1 guest who is gluten free. Pre booked and very accommodating for our food allergy diner. The food was amazing, everyone ordered a different dish and each one full of deep flavourful and well balanced. The menu has so many delicious sounding options we will definitely be back time and time again”
“The Sarawak kolo mee was spot on like home. Freshly made noodle in their kitchen. Perfect to my taste and the best in Auckland. Well done! Will be back for more.”

“This restaurant serves tasty food that both my husband and I enjoyed. Hunan food is very spicy but they happily toned it back for my husband, who can't handle too much chilli. The menu is very porky but I don't like pork so we tried various other options instead. The smelly tofu entree was suitably pungent and came topped with hot chilli. It was too hot for my husband but just right for me so I hoovered it all up. We also had hot and sour pickled radish, dong 'an chicken and stir fried chicken. All were lovely. The owner was friendly and interested to know what we thought of the food given we were the only non Asian patrons. The only negative - and it's not a big deal - is that the owner was busy in the kitchen when we arrived and it took quite a while before she noticed us standing at the counter. But we didn't mind too much and would happily eat there again.”
“Love the steam rice. Mushroom chicken is smooth and taste like home. All customers were welcome with awesome warm Chinese tea. Almost every other table ordered Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaves, must come and try next time”
“Thank you for a very tasty meal, everyone was very happy with their meal. Makes for a good evening. Thank you Friends Restaurant.”
“I am only marking 'atmosphere' down because our table of 4 was the only one occupied. We had 4 different meals and all were delicious. This restaurant deserves to be better supported. The decor has recently been revamped and is really nice. The menu is comprehensive and reasonably priced. There is also a BYO option for the budget conscious. I had the Chicken Rogan Josh... superb!”
“We had roast duck noodle soup for take away. The chef had all ingredients ready waiting for my arrival. He started putting everything into take away box as soon as he knew I was there to pick up. This was to preserve the crisp of the duck skin and limit the noodles drying up the soup. Staff was extra careful in packing to prevent soup leaking. The interior design of this restaurant is simple yet traditional Chinese. The duck noodle soup was tasty and authentic, I'm sure it would be even better if we dined in. Still very good after coming back many times.”

“I came in today, 2nd August 2025, and honestly, I just had to leave a review because the experience was that good. Right from the moment I walked in, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. You could tell they actually cared about making sure we were comfortable and happy. Service was fast, smooth, and super polite. It’s rare these days to see people go the extra mile, but the team here really did — and it made a big difference. Now about the food — wow. I’m not even exaggerating when I say everything was so fin’ good*. Packed with flavour, cooked perfectly, and served hot and fresh. Every bite just hit the spot. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do, because the quality was honestly next level. I wasn’t even that hungry when I walked in, and still ended up eating way more than I expected — it was that tasty. I don’t usually write long reviews, but this place deserves it. The service, food, and vibe all came together perfectly. I’ll 100% be coming back and definitely recommending it to friends. Massive thanks to the whole team — you made my day.”
“From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely exceptional, with each dish bursting with fresh flavors and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and friendly, making our evening truly memorable also all staff nature is awesome. Thanks for brilliant services.”

“I came here like 20 years ago and I am so surprised it still here! I lived in Hastings now and their food still as good as last time! Good customer service and still pretty cheap price compared to Hamilton yum char price!”
“I like this concept of choosing your own meat, vegetables, sauces, spices, etc, and having it cooked on the big hot plate. It's pretty easy to navigate, even if it is trial and error with the combination you've made up. Separate hot food is available as are salads and other side dishes. Dessert is great, they make really good pancakes, with different sweet sauces to accompany and an assortment of ice creams and toppings. The lady serving was very accommodating and friendly. The buffet dinner was $33.90 per adult. Enjoyed our dinner here in the relaxed atmosphere and would definitely recommend Gengis Khan New Lynn.”
