   Great Chinese food, good taste, but the portion size is a bit small, and the boss seemed to see through this and complained to us about the soaring prices.

   Waited 1 hour 30 minutes for first dish to arrive, which was the smelly tofu (6 small pieces for $12, quite a rip off). Around 2 hours of waiting our 2 mains came, the portion size was average and there was not a lot of meat, the mains were filled with celery and onions. Rice was $4 a bowl???!! There was no service to be had, I was told which table I could go to, and I got the cutlery, plates and water myself. Plates and bowls were all chipped. 3 other tables also complained about the wait time but there was no rush, the owner/chef didn’t really care. This place is a overhyped as they were on a TV show which probably has made them delusional in delulu land… Had to move my car from P120 cause it took so long, very poor experience. Total cost for 2 was $104, taste was average not worth the wait.

   This restaurant serves tasty food that both my husband and I enjoyed. Hunan food is very spicy but they happily toned it back for my husband, who can't handle too much chilli. The menu is very porky but I don't like pork so we tried various other options instead. The smelly tofu entree was suitably pungent and came topped with hot chilli. It was too hot for my husband but just right for me so I hoovered it all up. We also had hot and sour pickled radish, dong 'an chicken and stir fried chicken. All were lovely. The owner was friendly and interested to know what we thought of the food given we were the only non Asian patrons. The only negative - and it's not a big deal - is that the owner was busy in the kitchen when we arrived and it took quite a while before she noticed us standing at the counter. But we didn't mind too much and would happily eat there again.

   I recommend this place to lovers of spicy food, Hunan cooking style of Chinese cuisine. There are many types of spicy food, Thai, Mexican, curry, Sichun hotpot, etc. But Hunan is a different one, try it out youself. The best praise is not delicious, but truly local(Hunan), or authentic. I heard their regulars will travel far for it. I loved my choices. As it comes with rice, those who don't normally take rice may find the dishes slightly more heavy in seasoning. For decos, it is between a takeaway and a restaurant, I would take friends there if fine dining is what you have on your mind. But the food does not disappoint at all. Situated at the junction of New North Road and Mt Albert, close to the train station, best to park behind the shop, there is Park and Ride carpark there.

   This is absolutely a hidden gem! Highly recommend the Dong'An chicken, this was recommend by the boss, a slightly smoky/spicy stir fry chicken - tastes better than it looks for sure.

   If you are craving authentic Hunan Chinese food this is the place you want to go. Hunan AKA "Xiang" represents hot and spicy cuisine in using wide selection of chillies, they are also famous for the Chinese bacon to use in their daily meals. The owner and the chef was the founder of Zheng Kee on Dominion Road so you know how good this would be. Alert in advance, this is never a fancy restaurant you are looking for, but it definitely the best Xiang cuisine in town.

   This is a must-go restaurant in Auckland.If you like spicy food,you must go.If you cannot handle the spicy food,the chef would try his best to cater your flavor.The chef is very talktive and passionate. I like this place and it's my first option to hang out with my friends if we are starving.I feel like I am back in my hometown when the first bite of the food. Thanks chef for making yummy food for us.
