Tried Dragon Express on a whim and was genuinely impressed. Food came out hot, fresh, and full of flavourβ€”especially the black bean beef and fried rice. Good portions, fair prices, and quick service even on a busy night. Great local option when you need something tasty and no-fuss. Will definitely order again.

The chinese roast platter was pretty good, everything else was mediocre and overpriced. Some of our dish took way too long to get served and so some others were already cold. I suspect it’s because the place is understaffed, having probably only two people working there, one at the front and the other in the kitchen, for a restaurant of this size, this is highly irregular and unsustainable, and no wonder the service wasn’t the highlight either.

Got the 2 course meal of peaking duck. While the dish was lovely - the pancakes were just OK and there wasn't enough veggies The duck with cabbage was really good

The roast duck, pork belly, beef, kungpao chicken dishes and the tofu soup are excellent. The service is friendly to me, looks like a traditional family bussiness only a couple run the restaurant. Due to the culture and language limitation, you may not feel like 5 star services here. The atmosphere feel like Asian. Thanks

Came for the Peking duck after a local suggested the place. Unfortunately couldn’t dine in so took two eats away. Decent overall but portions were on the slightly lesser side and the second eat of stirfry duck was lackluster in the usual authentic two eat taste in my opinion. Duck was actually quite tasty how it should be and I liked the thinness of the wraps but it wasn’t standout in expectation. Overall happy to have had a taste of Chinese cuisine with us for our dinner in Kaikoura tonight!

This place was known for a long time for their Peking duck but unfortunately we were left incredibly disappointed tonight at our dinner. Our portions were 1/4 of what is usually expected for a main dish meal given the price you pay (no joke, about 14 pieces of sweet and sour pork and the rest was pineapple). The duck was tasty but the pork was incredibly sour. I know businesses are struggling and it’s been a beloved local business for a long time. But with the ridiculous price customers are paying (nearly $70 for the duck and $30 for pork), I really hope they increase the portions and quality for their sake as we won’t be back.

We booked at this place because a friend said the peking duck was the best in chch. The duck was very good. The other dishes were good. The service was not friendly "You sit there" in a loud abrupt voice is not very welcoming.

We had roast duck noodle soup for take away. The chef had all ingredients ready waiting for my arrival. He started putting everything into take away box as soon as he knew I was there to pick up. This was to preserve the crisp of the duck skin and limit the noodles drying up the soup. Staff was extra careful in packing to prevent soup leaking. The interior design of this restaurant is simple yet traditional Chinese. The duck noodle soup was tasty and authentic, I'm sure it would be even better if we dined in. Still very good after coming back many times.

Delicious peking duck! Such amazing food and lovely couple working there. We will definitely be returning here!
