I can't recommend Tokyo House enough! The California sushi here has fresh, quality salmon and tuna, with generous, thick slices that are bursting with flavour. The presentation is beautiful, and their service is excellent.
Atmosphere was pretty, cups were relatively dirty. The food however was pretty poor, considering I spent 18.50 for tempura udon which didn’t have any flavour and the shrimp had a soggy bath. Chashu wasn’t chasu at all and tasted very salty, sweet, and almost msg like. Very small portion in a very large bowl, but edible. Don’t recommend it personally, just go to any other Japanese resturant or Harrys Kitchen which is 3m away
Chicken cutlet was dry, cold and bland except for the mayo sauce, seemed like fried and left there for awhile before serving. Rice tasted like normal white rice instead of Japanese pearl white rice. Ramen was ok since it’s savoury but lack that smooth creaminess from a good pork bone broth. Not exactly a decent representation of Japanese food.
I came to have lunch there. The service was so good. The person at the counter was so welcoming. I also wanted a salad and avocado. He added it for me at no extra charge! Definitely highly recommend! Also fresh and delicious
Very sweet staff and nice atmosphere. The agedashi tofu is a fave, nice and soft and silky. Vegan options available :)
$17 for chicken ramen. Pretty decent portion, super yummy, and extremely fast service. Go to when feeling under the weather and on a budget.
Love the food here, I used to go here all the time when I lived in Dunedin, love going back here for a meal whenever I visit.
Pricing - 3/5 Taste - 3/5 Atmosphere - 4/5 The terriyaki tofu udon was slightly overpriced and the edamame were very overpriced. The udon was way too sweet.
Salmon Sushi - The sushi rice was too hard, it seems like it was cooked by yesterday. Tokyo Ramen - was not the thing I want but the soup was fine. Dumpling was standard.... Sashimi platter - The best thing in my order. The seats were small and uncomfortable, but the service was pretty good.
