“We went to this restaurant last Wednesday night with my boyfriend. The owners were very welcoming and smiling. We ordered pizzas and the tiramisu, and everything was delicious. The atmosphere was really nice with Italian music and decoration! I highly recommend it!”

“A Hidden Gem on Dominion Road We’ve passed by Spicy House countless times and finally decided to step in – and what a delightful decision it was! This small restaurant has its unique charm: it’s compact, bustling, yet incredibly well-organized. Despite the busy atmosphere, the efficiency and attentiveness of the staff stood out. There were five staff members at the front counter, ensuring every request was promptly addressed and tables were swiftly cleaned and turned over for the next guests. One of the most striking aspects of Spicy House is its diverse clientele. It’s arguably the only Chinese restaurant in Auckland where you’ll find more non-Chinese customers than Chinese, which speaks volumes about its broad appeal and the quality of its food. Speaking of the food, it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the beef was particularly noteworthy – tender and perfectly cooked. Each dish we tried was a testament to the culinary skills of the kitchen staff. The prices are reasonable, offering great value for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, our experience at Spicy House was fantastic. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout on Dominion Road. “My spouse loves this place. They got out of the hospital and the first thing they wanted was to order the udon through UberEats. It's their favourite udon in this city. I also enjoy the salmon teriyaki and chicken katsu donburi and we always get several miso soup as they're quite good.”

“Ordered : Mapo Tofu (vegan), Kung paw Chicken and rice ($2.5/ bowl) Good quality and quantity for the price. Mapo Tofu - Order max spice level. Good quantity spicy Sichuan pepper. Simple loved it with rice. Kung paw chicken - more of peanuts than chicken but flavour taste. Loved peanuts as it had a sweet taste but no Sichuan pepper. Not too spicy as Mapo Tofu.”

Service is a little slow (we waited almost 40 mins for tacos because I think they forgot our order). reservations needed for dinner or come after 830pm. “Had lunch here today and ordered the chicken katsu donburi special for only $17.50. Best value for lunch, as it also comes with a small bowl of miso soup. The chicken katsu was tasty and the serving size is enough to make me full. The salad is good as well as the carrot tempura with dipping sauce. The staff is nice and friendly. Will come back to try the sushi train or some other food in the menu, and better with my family.”

“Fantastic as always. Definitely a top shelf venue that is consistently good. We shared a few entrees which were all delicious. I had a wagyu steak which good to my liking. Dessert was a real mix of flavours but very nice also. Definitely add this to your list and go if you haven’t been already.”

“Tried Jo Bros for the first time from Uber Eats today and we were stoked to discover their delicious veggie burgers (vege single). The burgers were fresh and delicious, their special sauce is great! The burger is huge and was messy in a good way. The fries weren't as fresh but that's the trouble with ordering from Uber and the driver having stop off's along the way. They were still tasty. Looking forward to going and checking out the restaurant in person.”

“For a late lunch I tried the roast pork (not the usual bbq pork) wonton noodle soup. With 5 pork wontons and the roast pork it was a very filling lunch. The service was quick and friendly from the next generation of this family business. The matriarch still oversees the business with a friendly smile as you leave with a full stomach. It re-established itself in Epsom after the Mercury theatre food court closed for the new railway station. With easy access and parking close by, certainly be visiting more often now.”
