We had a good time here with good food and drinks. Tempura prawn lunch set was good and fresh. The entrees is a bit on the small side with just one sushi and 3 Sashimi. Side dishes for the main course is also on the small side. Tonkotsu Pork is very nicely done with tender pork. The yakiniku beef is a little tough.

We moved from Singapore to Auckland about a year ago & are so happy to have discovered Wakuwaku near our home! The food here is consistently delicious & comforting. We especially enjoy their set lunch β great variety & good value. The sashimi is fresh & nicely prepared too. Itβs such a treat to have an authentic Japanese spot nearby. Highly recommend!

It was all a messy course. Tuna cebiche, which came out as Start, is Amuse bouche, the best for stimulating appetite. The sashimi plate and hot food plate I received after that impressed me. Each sauce was interesting. But the staff didn't give us a description of the food. Then I received the absurd main, and the taste and shape of beefmain were the worst. The other fish main were the best. Lastly, I hope you pay more attention to the cleanliness of the wine glasses. The wine glass smelled like a rotten mop, so dessert wine couldn't taste it. It's one of the cheap courses I've been to, but even that was the worst for the service and some food. If visit there is the next one, I expect to eat a single dish that I was satisfied with.

We had the wagyu lunch set and pork tonkatsu lunch set. For $39 each, you are getting quite a lot. The steam rice is of generous portion and fluffy. I would recommend giving the wagyu beef a pass. Go with the other protein options (pork, grilled fish or tofu). The wagyu was a bit chewy and lacks the marbling you expect in a wagyu. Deco and ambience was good. Service was OK. The junior waiter come across as inexperienced.

Excellent Japanese restaurant nestled away next to Thai village and new world. Presentation was definitely one of the highlights. Sake served in an interesting container. Food was really good too. Highly recommend the lamb ribs. It's a little spicy but perfect with a little rice.

Amazing food with a great atmosphere. Remuera has needed some new modern restaurants for so long, and Wakuwaku provides one. Service was great, but it was the food that stood out. The price for a set menu, was also great value.

Booked slightly late, and I didnβt select their 1st anniversary menu when booking. I came to try their normal menu however was handed a 1st anniversary menu and seems like all customer was having the same menu and food. Was a bit disappointed as they didnβt ask about allergy at the table. We ended up have no choice but eat what we donβt usually like. And later we also got left out our dessert. I Reckon the comm can be improved. Otherwise, food is good, fancy seating and interior. Great cocktail and mocktail. Hope to try their normal menu and hope to see some service improvement too.

I recently visited this Japanese restaurant and was impressed by the interior. The atmosphere was calming and serene, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. The deep-fried dishes were especially delicious, and the gluten-free teriyaki chicken was a standout. It came with a subtle scent of charcoal, which added to the overall experience. The price for lunch was totally acceptable, and the attentive staff provided excellent service throughout my meal. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique Japanese dining experience and will definitely come back again!

Waku Waku is a Japanese restaurant that I first visited mid August 2022 and had an amazing experience. The sashimi was fresh and full of flavor, with highlights being the Truffle Sushi, Chawanmushi, and 'Black Origin' Wagyu Ribeye BMS 8-9. The Wakuwaku Chef's choice was also a highlight, which I ordered on two occasions and felt was worth it. The customer service was the biggest highlight of my experience, where I was unable to finish my sake and they kept it for me for my next visit. I did come back a few days later and they kept their promise, which was fantastic. However, on my most recent visit, I noticed that the restaurant had been extended but was disappointed to see that they had not introduced any new menu items as promised. Despite this, the Tonkatsu pork with an extra bowl of rice did not disappoint and was still delicious. Unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail, such as not topping up water, was a big minus for me as attentiveness is an important factor in my dining experience. In conclusion, for a first-timer, I would highly recommend visiting Waku Waku. Although the lack of new menu items and the decrease in attention to detail may affect the overall dining experience, their food are still amazing and worth a visit.
