“The best Chinese restaurant in Hamilton! Nice spicy food very delicious. The only day I don’t come to eat is Tuesday. Only because they are closed on Tuesday lol! It’s not like Sichuan food which is just spicy, the food of Xiang style is more focused on flavor and taste. Highly recommend!”
Hoong Mooi Chinese Takeaway keeps things classic fish‑and‑chips and focused on flavour. Fillets arrive fresh and the fry keeps clean. A family‑friendly feel comes through naturally. The team keeps things friendly and organised.
“Great service and amazing quality food. Each dish had a sophisticated fusion of flavours, that was balanced and none too overpowering. All three meals were delicious, but i would definitely recommend Filipino Style Benny and Ube Dream (French) toast. Both very filling for its price. Would definitely love to come back and explore more of their new menu!”

“We ordered the popular choices for this restaurant. Delicious and enough to fill my stomach. I like this restaurant and will come back next time. Forget to take a photo.”
“It was my first time visiting with my family, and we had such a great experience. The 小笼包 dumplings were delicious, and I also loved the 葱油拌面 noodles. It's a popular spot, so the line moves quickly, but the place is always clean and the staff is really friendly.”
“Second time in seven days trying this restaurant and I really wish I’d known about it sooner. So far I’ve tried the prawn chow mein, sweet and sour pork, black bean combination on rice, seasonal vegetables with garlic sauce and their wontons. Absolutely no complaints. I’m not even usually that big on Chinese takeaways but the service and amount of meat and vegetables is great, sauce is tasty, portion size is generous, service is outstanding. Wontons have crispy deep fried wrapper and actually have a good serve of meat in them!! Looking forward to my next meal with them to try some more dishes.”
“Lovely food, been our go too Chinese takeaway for over 30yrs, the best deep fried won tons in the southern hemisphere....”
“Before it was a Takeaway it was a video store in the 90s. We used to go here before and after Intermediate to buy lollies and play video games good times”
“Flavour House is my favorite Chinese restaurant. The chicken dumplings in Sichuan-style sauce were flavorful and perfectly spiced. The authentic Chinese fried rice was delicious, and the cucumber salad was refreshing. Great food at reasonable prices.”
“Double Happy gives you great value for money. The food is delicious, and always cooked fresh. The place is simple but very clean. If you’re dining in, cutlery, condiments and free tea are self-service. My favourite dish from here is the Stir Fried Pork Belly with Cabbage (extra spicy), highly recommend.”
“A family favourite serving all the traditional Chinese food we grew up with. The Peking duck was expensive but worth it, though it was strangely quiet for a Sunday.”
“My family and I have been going there once a week recently. The food is delicious and I want to try every dish.”
“This is the best Chinese restaurant we have ever been too. The waiter was lovely and helped us choose some foods that we were undecided about. Very good prices on the meals and just the food quality is amazing. We got the crab and prawns in a chilli sauce and it was some of the best seafood we’ve ever had. We ended up going twice on our 4 day trip because of how good it is”
“The BEST chinese we have had in a very long time. Very authentic and yummy! Good size portions, amazing service from staff who were happy to chat and engage in conversation and a few laughs. Even went out of their way to make a special honey chicken dish which wasn't on the menu. Alcohol prices were also very good and not over priced. Had a beautiful dinner and who ABSOLUTELY recommend!!”
“good range of food- cold salad to hot chinese and desserts. Very good service, very kind. Oyster is very large and fresh, they also have tabasco sauce to go with, limit 6 per adult. steam prawn is also very fresh, limit 12 per adult. Mussels has topped with capers. Cripspy pork was bery cripsy and my daughter loves noodle. Tiramisu dessert was so good for me. Kids loved ice cream station.”
“This is as good as it gets. Really good Chinese food. Authentic Chinese and kiwi favourites as well. Nice, friendly service. Bathroom has had a major, much needed upgrade. In fact the whole place has been upgraded. We will definitely be back. From the way that the other customers (four different groups, two Chinese, two kiwi) related to the staff, you could tell that they weren't there their first time. It's a good sign when customers come back. We had the curry chicken, cha shao pork (much bigger dish than in the menu photo), Fu Yong egg (omelette thingy) and stir fried veggies. All delicious.”
