“This restaurant serves tasty food that both my husband and I enjoyed. Hunan food is very spicy but they happily toned it back for my husband, who can't handle too much chilli. The menu is very porky but I don't like pork so we tried various other options instead. The smelly tofu entree was suitably pungent and came topped with hot chilli. It was too hot for my husband but just right for me so I hoovered it all up. We also had hot and sour pickled radish, dong 'an chicken and stir fried chicken. All were lovely. The owner was friendly and interested to know what we thought of the food given we were the only non Asian patrons. The only negative - and it's not a big deal - is that the owner was busy in the kitchen when we arrived and it took quite a while before she noticed us standing at the counter. But we didn't mind too much and would happily eat there again.”
“Love the steam rice. Mushroom chicken is smooth and taste like home. All customers were welcome with awesome warm Chinese tea. Almost every other table ordered Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaves, must come and try next time”
“Bestest Chinese food ever. Chicken fried rice very very spicy and 4 nibbles is my all time favourite order here. Wish I could live close by. Whenever I visit north shore, this is must visit place”
“Quite huge portion of food. Very friendly customer service. Good taste and highly recommended!”
“I came here like 20 years ago and I am so surprised it still here! I lived in Hastings now and their food still as good as last time! Good customer service and still pretty cheap price compared to Hamilton yum char price!”
“As a customer who has dined at this Korean-Chinese restaurant more than 20 times, I can confidently say it’s a great choice when you’re unsure what to eat. My top recommendation is the “Number Nine”Spicy Seafood Noodles(Samseon Jjamppong). It’s mildly spicy, nutritious, and packed with a variety of fresh seafood like scallops, oysters, squid, and prawns, along with veggies such as carrots, greens, onions, and zucchini. The seafood soup is delicious with a slight garlic taste. The Stir-fried Glass Noodles and Veggies(Japchae) are another favorite. They’re delicious and the texture of glass noodles is silky, though they can be a bit oily for me. Lastly, the Veggie & seafood salad, green bean starch, mustard sauce on side(Yangjangpi) is colorful and appetizing, with a great combination of fresh vegetables and stir-fried meat, perfectly complemented by a mustard sauce that enhances the overall taste. The only drawback is that it gets very busy on weekends, so you might not find a seat and could end up waiting over 30 minutes for a bowl of noodles during peak times. The restaurant is conveniently located across from a Woolworths and a parking lot, so parking isn’t an issue. For public transport, Bus 25 is a convenient option.”
“Best roast duck in auckland. I've looked. First takeaways ordered out of L4, no regrets ❤”
“Run by a friendly older couple, food is freshly made in store”
“Always get combo E very good food”
“Spacious restaurant with plenty of parking. Good dim sum place with reasonable price. However, please be mindful that if they are busy, your dining time is only 90mins and no matter you still want to order more or not they will tell you time is up.”
“As soon as I walked into the restaurant, it felt like I had stepped into another country. The food was delicious, and the overall service was very satisfying. I think I’ll be coming back again.”
“My friends and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this restaurant. We went in to celebrate my birthday, and the staff made the night truly special. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and they surprised me with several thoughtful extras throughout our visit, which I really appreciated. The food was exceptional, everything tasted amazing, and our order arrived surprisingly fast. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!”
“Nice foods , Good service, good staffs and cheaper price .good for hire for brithday party and other functions.”
“Here for the second time and I have to say the food is outstanding and the service exceptional. They go the extra mile. Very warm reception, owners, staff. Will be back again and again!”
“Thank you for a very tasty meal, everyone was very happy with their meal. Makes for a good evening. Thank you Friends Restaurant.”
On the plate at Guest House Restaurant, the idea is simple, bistro‑style and well judged. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. A sensible spend for the spread. Plates offer plenty without weighing things down.
“IG: 2Fish1Chip Order: Blue Cod, Warehou and a scoop of chips. Cost: $33.80 I thought two different fillets would be better for comparison and as a more solid baseline. Firstly, WTAF!?! The size of these fillets were ginormous!!! I had to put a can of coke next to them for scale! Both fillets were equally delicious and cooked to peak performance. The Warehou was fresh and steaky as you would expect. Tasty and filling to the very end. The batter had perfect colouring and crunch. The Blue Cod had the same battered goodness, and flesh was flaky, soft and melted in your mouth. Classic Blue Cod vibes all the way to bank! The only minor piece on both fillets was the batter. The inside was a little underdone probably due to the dense mixture, but it was only a minor blip against the entire experience. The Crickle Cuts, we’re good as well. Nice crunch before reaching the pillowy centre. The portion was twice that of an average serving. ✅ Portion ✅ Cost ✅ Taste - With an asterisk for the batter Definitely value for money from these guys. Not sure if it was a one off, but I’d be keen to go back and do check in come summer. Xiexie”
“You won’t go wrong with Regals if you’re after authentic chinese cuisine or a fantastic spread of yum cha. They have a great variety to choose from their menu and are often packed, so do book in advance. Parking is ample around the streets however one inconvenience is the lack of an elevator, which might not be accessible for the elderly etc. I’ve also added some videos from chinese new year where they often have the lion dance performance which is entertaining for all.”
“Came here for my birthday last night with 20 or so of us and the team handled it amazingly, food was delicious and very prompt and they were very accomodating to allergies which we appreciated immensely. Thanks so much guys”
“Our two families are across from Australia for Mum & Dads’ 60th Wedding Anniversary in Kapiti Village! We decided to eat in and so ordered 9 takeaway dishes from Canton Inn Takeaways & Restaurant - boy what an awesome meal. Great service as we preordered in the afternoon and it was all there packed and waiting for us on time! Each dish was absolutely delicious - great customer service and big friendly smiles. I highly recommend Canton Inn for both Takeaways or Dinning in… Craig from Brisbane…”
“Very first time coming here, it was a busy night and the staff were extremely busy. The service was good for the fact there was only 2 of them serving. The food was amazing. We got a set menu for 2 soooo much food!! Such a lovely variety and was so yum! The soup was sooo yum could have had way more of that. The wontons and spring rolls were amazing. Loved the way the noodles come shaped like a bowl! Soo cool! The sweet and sour pork was so yum. Combination fried rice was soo good too. Not a huge fan of black bean but my partner enjoyed that. Had heaps of leftovers for dinner the next night. Will be back ❤️”
“I have vivid dreams of the golden star smorgasbord! I live far away now but I remember the perfect chicken and spring rolls! The best sweet and sour pork with fried rice! The orange beef is also amazing holy heck! I wanna get on a plane and come back to upper hutt not for any other reason than to get a large smorgasbord option!!!! I miss you!!@!”
“Dumpling World is amazing! The dumplings are incredibly delicious, and the service is friendly. It's a must-try.”
“One of the best Chinese restaurants in Chch, really recommended “Kung Pao Chicken” and “Small potato big dish Chicken ””
“Ordered tons of food for a party of 12 and the bill came up to $18 per person, which I thought was cheap for the amount of food. I don't know what this is called, but definitely give it a try, it's some sort of deep fried bread stick wrapped in rice noodle sheet (I think) - whoever invented this is genius.”
“Best Fish & Chip shop in city. Heaps of Chinese options, along with the standard Fish n Chips. Phone your order in, and will be ready on arrival. Best value portions I've ever found anywhere - always heaps of food, and always sooooo tasty and fresh. It's a takeaway shop, and pretty basic decor etc, but don't let that put you off. We go at least once a month, and wouldn't go anywhere else. 2 Fish, 1 scoop chips costs around $13/$14 - don't order extra chips as you wont get through them there's so much provided in a scoop.”
“Excellent value for money, the food is hot and fresh. Tastes great! I really enjoy the black bean beef stir fry. Would reccomend giving this place a try if you haven't already.”
“It was a hidden gem to me! This one lace serves delicious foods and desserts! The staffs are friendly and understanding. The food was served pretty quick compared to other Chinese restaurants. The place is very crowded most of the time because of the food quality and vibe. Convenient location, heaps of parking at church corner. Highly recommended and we surely will visit again.”
“We had roast duck noodle soup for take away. The chef had all ingredients ready waiting for my arrival. He started putting everything into take away box as soon as he knew I was there to pick up. This was to preserve the crisp of the duck skin and limit the noodles drying up the soup. Staff was extra careful in packing to prevent soup leaking. The interior design of this restaurant is simple yet traditional Chinese. The duck noodle soup was tasty and authentic, I'm sure it would be even better if we dined in. Still very good after coming back many times.”
