On the plate at Papa Chou's Yum Cha & Chinese Dining, the idea is Chinese takeout and well executed. Sweetโandโsour stays balanced and crisp. Cakes and scoops finish things neatly. Portions are generous yet well judged. Service stays present without fuss.
We noticed this restaurant on our walk around Dunedin and it was a great choice. The gentleman at front of house was friendly and helpful. The choices we made were fresh, nicely cooked and tasty. We would not hesitate eating here again.
This place is a proof that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a delicious chinese meals. Even after closing for a few months, the taste of their foods doesn't change. We always have a good time at this place. Not only the foods are excellent, but the portion is quite generous too. Highly recommended for a family or large group banquet.
I just happened to walk in because the road was closed for filming the American TV series East of Eden next door. The food, whether it's Hong Kong-style dim sum or regular rice and noodles, is all incredibly delicious and caters perfectly to Chinese taste buds. It's one of the best Chinese restaurants I've dined at during my time in New Zealand. Next time I'm here, I will definitely visit again.
Came across Papa Chou's Yum Cha on New Yearโs Eve, and Iโm so glad I did! The food was surprisingly good, especially the black pepper lambโit was incredibly tender and full of flavor.
The best Chinese we've had in Dunedin so far, the prices were a but high it was only a weekday so it was quite quiet but the food made up for it. Portion sizes are good. We ordered quite a lot. I would recommend the shizzling chicken dish (which I forgot to take a picture of!l) That was very enjoyable.
Ice cream deep fry is unique and so yummyโฆ Amazing taste combination with ice cream, fruits on fryerโฆ.
We went to eat this Friday, the beef mince in the steamed noddle rice roll was so stinky. The vegetarian dim sum was OK, but all the meat dishes were greasy and completely unauthentic. A bit disappointing and frustrating :((
Delicious chinese food in Dunedin. The taste is authentic. The portion is quite big and can be shared with 5 family members. The service is also good and fast.
Horrible food. Ordered Shu Mai and Beef Tripe. Theyโre clearly not fresh and have been reheated. The Beef Tripe were in solid goo and the Shu Mai were tough in the centre. See the photos for yourself! Theyโre not authentic dim sum, avoid like the plague!!!
