“Lovely spot, first time here and came on a whim after walking aimlessly with the wife. Cute spot, vibe was great, super quiet and homey. Food was super tasty, we ordered the meat platter for two, this was the perfect amount of food for two, didn't leave feeling heavy and wanting to go for a sleep. The dips and flat bread worked so well with the dish, we are already planning our next trip back :) Coffee was made very well, we love our coffee and this just hit the spot. Keep up the good work this spot rocks! Although prices are a little on the steap side.. the service and quality of the foods sure make up for it, very happy customer here”

“I love The Patriot, it’s easily my second-favourite spot to enjoy a cold, refreshing beverage on a sunny afternoon. (First place goes to my lounge when the All Blacks are on.) I’m a proud regular, usually popping in once or twice a week to take advantage of a good 2 for 1 deal and some great food. But for the love of all things holy, please don’t change the rib sauce. I’m not sure if it was just tonight and my taste buds were having an identity crisis, but something tasted different. Those ribs are usually perfection and I frequently advertise them as the best ribs on the shore, so if there’s been a tweak to that glorious sauce, I’m begging you, bring it back!”

“My husband and I got married at McHughes on the 24th October 2025. We had both our ceremony & reception here. The venue is set right on the beautiful Cheltenham beach with stunning panoramic sea views of Rangitoto, North Head and the Waitamata Harbour. Right from the start James was great at communicating and was very accommodating, helpful and supportive. At the wedding rehearsal we set up the arch and were allowed to store decorations for the day. It was easy for our florist and DJ to set up for the ceremony held inside. James did an amazing job setting up the venue, with gorgeous tables and chair covers, Inside there are lovely big pillars with fairy lights and a dance floor. We got a lot of positive feedback from our guests on how delicious the canapés, buffet dinner and desserts were, with a wonderful variety to choose from. James and his team were very well organised and made sure everything ran smoothly. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive to our guests and made the day very special and memorable. We had the Gold package and it was very affordable and reasonable, especially compared to other venues. We would not hesitate into recommending James, Raj and the team at McHughes for a wedding or any private function event. Thank you all very much ❤️”

“Discovered this gem while in AKL on business, staying at the Heartland Airport Hotel. 5 min walk (free off street parking available side of cafe) extensive menu, clean & tidy. Everything made in-house except the pies. I ordered from the cabinet “to go” a large savoury scone, raspberry lamington, low carb vege frittata with side salad & coffee. Covered lunch & dinner all for $25! Tasty food, good coffee, all staff welcoming & delightful service from Morris - will return on my next business trip.”

“Incredible food. Ever since trying their ricotta ravioli I've been thinking about it at least once a week. Their entire menu sounds amazing and their cocktails are super reasonably priced (and taste great). Fantastic service too. Can't fault a thing.”

“Absolutely loved my experience at Glen Eden Kebab Shop! I ordered the lamb kebab and it was so juicy, filling, and definitely worth it. The staff were super kind and funny, which made the atmosphere really welcoming. Service was quick as well — didn’t have to wait long at all. Will definitely be coming back!”

Really appreciated not being faced with the same old, same old that so many cafes offer these days where you can tell, being a retired cafe owner, where the product has come from. Great selection of fresh and well presented cabinet food and nice brunch and lunch menu selection as well so you pick quick offerings on the go or to linger over a beautifully made coffee ☕️”

“Depending on who you get if you get the grumpy ol Chinese lady she throws off attitude but I think that's just her as for the food it always taste delicious and is freshly cooked all the workers apart from the above are nice and always offer me a rewards card they have tables to sit and it can be accessible via sliding doors if you are wheelchair bound.”

“Top notch burger. I had the Three Fat Pigs. Great flavour with the various pork elements. My photo doesn't really do it justice. The chips were OK, probably 3/5, nothing too special. $29 for burger, chips and drink. On the high side, but it was a more expensive burger choice, so it could've been cheaper with other. Not great for dining in, clearly setup more with takeaway in mind. Overall, a great burger, and solid all round experience, so I'll definitely be back.”

“The restaurant is located on the outside of Glenfield Mall, with an entrance from the inside too. We ordered the Viki Signature Stone Bowl Pho, which actually stays hot to the last sip and the Charcoal Bun Cha to share between 4 people. The kids ordered from the Kid's Menu and had the Beef Pho, which also comes with a juice.”

“My friend had popped over from Melbourne and was staying at the Park Hyatt so we decided to come here. A very good choice we made. The service was very quick and the drinks and food was top notch. We had The Hail Mary (Philly cheese steak) and The fried chicken burger with a couple of drinks. The fries that came with the food was crispy but soft inside and Steak Sandwich was superb. It was a bit loud but the music was great. All in all we had a good evening out.”
