“Very cool park. Great playground at one end of the park and a cool looking hide out/ tunnel/ ex-cannon place. Would have loved to use the stairs to go down the beach, but it was closed off. Looking straight ahead, you can enjoy Rangitoto island. A cool fact I just searched up, this park is named after American president John F. Kennedy.”

“Beautiful reserve that we came by accidentally. Two lovely waterfalls with a steep walk to/from and around 100 steps. Great picnic areas and a toilet”

“Four women in our early 60s, we've been friends for 40 years. One living overseas, one in the South Island, two in Auckland, we catch up for a weekend once every 18 months or so. We had the most wonderful time at Blue Tides. It was perfect accommodation for us. We could spread out, each had a room of our own, views to die for, and everything we needed. Highly recommend!”

“Amazing knowledge (free of charge) and selection of pool products at competitive prices. My best way pool was full of algae and I couldn't see the bottom (a result of my lazyness over winter). Took a sample in and the lovely lady gave me an accurate reading of my pool water quality. I followed her advice and presto, a week later, the pool was clean and crystal clear. I always buy my products there now, as the pool chat and service is excellent.”

“We had a truly wonderful stay at this beautiful home in Auckland. The location is perfect – set in a lovely, peaceful area with absolutely stunning views of the sea, boats, and the bridge. The house itself is stylish, full of light, and thoughtfully designed. It felt very comfortable and had everything we needed – from a fully equipped kitchen to cozy spaces to relax. We especially appreciated the little touches like having milk in the fridge on arrival – such a kind and welcoming gesture, as well as the cot provided for our kid, which was important for us. “This is a delightful park which has more than just play equipment. It has a lot of water play equipment so make sure the kids bring their togs. It has nice shady trees and a band rotunda. A great place for a picnic lunch or dinner and close to takeaways if you don't feel like bringing your own.”

“Great customer service from all the staff especially the receptionist. I signed up for an adult swim class with Morgan. He was very patient to us and always does his best to correct our form and techniques. I didn't realize that learning swimming even as an adult could be this fun. The place is always clean and the water is really warm.”

“Western Springs Lakeside Park is one of the most beautiful and relaxing spots in Auckland. The lush greenery, serene lake, and abundance of birdlife make it perfect for a weekend stroll or picnic. The walking paths are well-maintained, and there are plenty of open spaces for kids to play or just to sit and enjoy nature. It’s also right next to the Auckland Zoo and MOTAT, making it a great addition to a day out. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind without leaving the city!”

“Just amazing! Who would have thought this not really a hidden gem at the heart of the highway has lots to offer. For a loner like me, it gave me a sense of ease whilst taking a short hike...it was a 4 hours well spent for a bit of sun and just pure nature all for me.”

“Lovely playground right next to the Point Chev beach. There is the usual playground, lots of slices, a mini push train and a flying fox too which the adults can enjoy too. Quite safe and a huge grassy area as well for other games”

“Nice big park with lots of trees to get some shade from. The sun. Over looking the water which adds a nice backdrop. Great for kids, plenty of room to run around and a park to play on.”

“Such a very place to stroll and chase the sunset. The parking is safe. The pavement is even. Took us 1.5 hours back and forth. There’s one toilet near the dam. The place is well maintained. No rubbish bins but it is tidy. Recommended walk for everyone (“.)”

“Lovely walk (though steep at times) through the bush, where you can find ALL the typical flora and fauna of Auckland's bush. The pool at the waterfall is great to cool down (literally) in summer. Pitty the track on the South side of the valley is closed due to the huge slip (you can see it on your way up). The road that takes to the entrance of the track is still restricted to residents, but it is an easy 1k walk from the Piha fire station.”

“What a great experience. Such a beautiful scene. We went with baby, so did not attempt the walk ways. We walked accross the beach during low tide and went up to the museum. Will definitely head back once baby is a bit older to complete the routes.”

“The Lower Huia Dam is about a 40-minute drive from Auckland and makes a nice short trip into the Waitākere Ranges. From the carpark, it’s an easy walk to the reservoir area. The surroundings are peaceful, with farmland and hills nearby, and sometimes sheep grazing in the fields. The highlight is the bellmouth spillway — a rare circular overflow structure that looks like a giant vertical funnel. It’s quite impressive to see in person and not something you often come across in New Zealand. The dam top also gives good views of the lake and surrounding hills. It’s generally very quiet, and we hardly saw other visitors during our walk. On a rainy day, the atmosphere felt fresh and calm, and the whole place had a very tranquil vibe. Worth a stop if you’re exploring the west coast or the Waitākere Ranges.”

“An oasis on peace and quietness. Went there on a full on day tip to Auckland and since i had a book i stopped to read for a while. Ended up seeing so many cute couples and people just chilling, reading and relaxing and ended up doing some friends with travellers that were around.”
