We enjoyed it. Walk down was easy. Its coming back up where you get a workout. Take your water!! Tarsealed road. There are toilets down at the dam. You can walk to the base of the dam. Great views.

great for a little walk/workout, completely downhill on the way there so on the way back it is all uphill, however the track is a nice asphalt road as i assume that maintenance vehicles need to get in and out, so hiking gear is not required. beautiful views of the ranges, and dead quiet so great for a spot to relax

As always a lovely drive to this place. Caution: it's a 1.25 km walk from the car parking to the dam on a slight incline. So people with knee pain beware, people with babies, carry that stroller. We didn't, so DOMed our shoulders. It's amazing to stand right over a flowing dam and look over a dense Jurassic like forest with a steep drop. Overall enjoyable, a must do for kids.

Such a very place to stroll and chase the sunset. The parking is safe. The pavement is even. Took us 1.5 hours back and forth. There’s one toilet near the dam. The place is well maintained. No rubbish bins but it is tidy. Recommended walk for everyone (“.)

Nice walk down to the dam, just a shame it’s on tarmac. Nice and quiet.

Great walks from very easy to difficult. Dam has amazing views. Check council listings as some tracks are closed due to Kauri dieback.

Nice 30 mins walk from the parking area, going back up is a good exercise. The Dam itself is nicely constructed, the view looking towards Waitakere range is just magnificent. Lots of walkways branching out from the driveway, you can take sometime exploring, see those Kauri trees. Public toilet on site but very stinky. Stairs going down to the bottom of the Dam which is quite nice, but again coming back up is a big challenge for your knees. Overall nice experience for family walkabout.
